The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has signed a contract with the international defence and technology company PATRIA for the purchase of 321 armored 6-wheeled vehicles. The contract is worth approximately 470 million euros and is one of the largest that PATRIA has ever concluded in Sweden.
The 321 vehicles, known in Sweden as Pansarterrängbil 300, will be stationed at the Livgardet Regiment in Kungsängen and several other units across the country. PATRIA has already delivered 20 6x6 vehicles ordered in a separate contract in April 2023.
The upcoming 6x6 vehicle from PATRIA is the troop transport model, equipped with state-of-the-art vehicle technology, such as advanced protection for up to 12 crew members. The vehicle is modular and can be configured for a variety of missions. In addition to troop transport, it will be used in Sweden for command and control as well as medical tasks, playing a crucial role in Sweden's growing defense capability.
The 6x6 vehicle PATRIA was selected as the platform for a unique CAVS (Common Armoured Vehicle System) program, in which Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany are already participating. Finland procured an additional 40 6x6 vehicles in January 2024, bringing the total number of Finnish acquisitions to 131. Sweden joined the 6x6 research and development program in 2022.
