Red dot on pistol: Trijicon RMR for USSOCOM

08/18/2018By Redaktion

The American SOCOM has once again awarded a contract to Trijicon. This time in the amount of 7.6 million US dollars. This time for a very small optic: The RMR Type 2 will likely be used for the Glock 19 and is part of the Miniature Aiming System – Day Optics Program (MAS-D). The contract specifically represents the Handgun Reflex Sight (HRS), which is a part of MAS-D. In addition, there are other optics that still need to be selected. Back to Trijicon, they are now allowed to deliver around 14,000 units, which will in turn be awarded to the respective units by SOCOM.

The acquisition by the US Special Operations Command is a clear response to the question of what a red dot is doing on a pistol in the first place. Answer: It makes the shooter faster and more efficient, even with night vision goggles. HERE is the article "Getting to the (Red) Point" by Gabe Suarez on SPARTANAT.
