Two European NATO customers have signed contracts with the Düsseldorf technology group Rheinmetall for the delivery of 40mm ammunition for the armed forces of both countries. The total value of the contracts is over 30 million euros.
One customer country chose Rheinmetall as the manufacturer of 40mm ammunition variants LV (low velocity) and HV (high velocity) in December 2022. The framework contract is for seven years and includes a quantity of up to 300,000 cartridges. The first call-off of approximately 75,000 cartridges has already been made.
Under a separate contract, the same customer will also receive up to approximately 45,000 programmable cartridges 40 mm x 53 HV HE-T ABM (High Velocity High Explosive-Tracer Airburst Munition), which will be delivered in the first half of 2024.
Another European NATO customer will receive around 10,000 cartridges of the same type of ammunition, primarily used for drone combat. Delivery will start in mid-2023.
All types of ammunition that have now been put under contract are developed to the latest standards, qualified, and are globally unparalleled in terms of effectiveness and precision. The design of both cartridges fully meets the requirements of the European Regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH).
