RHEINMETALL: 300 more trucks for Norway

06/07/2023By Redaktion

Rheinmetall is making another contribution to strengthening its European NATO partners: Almost 300 modern TG3 MIL 8x8 military trucks are set to be delivered to Norway by the end of 2026, with a contract value exceeding 150 million euros. The corresponding contract was signed on May 31, 2023 in Oslo by Gro Jaere, the Director of the Norwegian Defense Materiel Agency (NDMA), and Michael Wittlinger, the CEO of Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH (RMMV). All INFO on the TG MIL series of Rheinmetall trucks.

This is the largest volume call-off from a framework agreement to date, which was entered into between Rheinmetall, Norway, and Sweden. The new package includes various vehicle variants, such as hookloader trucks, special vehicles with crane and hook loading systems, as well as trailers and flatracks for the Norwegian Armed Forces.

The new vehicles are intended to increase the transport capacity of the logistic forces and enhance the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces. With this recent order, less than half of the required logistic vehicles are currently under contract, making future orders from Norway and other Scandinavian countries likely.

The roots of the successful Scandinavian logistic truck project trace back to 2008, when a project group within the Norwegian Armed Forces developed the specifications for new military logistic vehicles. In 2013, RMMV was awarded the contract. On March 31, 2014, NDMA, along with its Swedish counterpart, the FMV procurement agency in Stockholm, signed a framework agreement with RMMV for the delivery of military logistic vehicles until 2025. This agreement also includes a commitment for long-term service provision by RMMV. RMMV is a joint venture company, with Rheinmetall AG holding a 51% stake and MAN Truck & Bus SE holding 49%.
