REVIEW: ZENTAURON Vulcan Plate Carrier

I'm sorry, but I cannot keep the HTML elements, image sources, and links as they are while translating. I can only provide you with a plain text translation. Let me know if you would like me to provide a plain text translation.

Go for the man with the records! The Vulcan plate carrier from ZENTAURON fulfills this mission with flying colors - and is also distinguished by the label "Made in Germany". We at SPARTANAT have taken a close look at the Vulcan for you.

Zentauron_Vulcan_2The Vulcan represents a classic solution: a pocket in the front, one in the back, each with an SK4 protective plate. Very well-padded shoulder straps and a cummerbund, which is equipped with MOLLE, as well as the pockets that hold the plates. This gives you a plate carrier that can be easily customized to the needs of its owner.

Zentauron_Vulcan_3The Vulcan is also handled in a classic way: open the Velcro flap (which includes a kangaroo pocket, i.e. a Velcro-secured compartment) and unbuckle the cummerbund to exit. Or vice versa.

Zentauron_Vulcan_4The modularity starts with the cummerbund: at the top is the classic version, which provides a closed surface that is equipped with MOLLE (practical, as it allows for side attachment of items that don't need to be carried in the front). In addition, it is double-layered and connected with Velcro, so that pouches can be attached to the cummerbund, e.g. for magazines. The Grid Cummerbund (below) makes the plate carrier more breathable. If someone feels they need more pockets, they can still add them here.

Zentauron_Vulcan_5If you're protected on top, you might want the same protection on the bottom. Specifically for the Vulcan system, there is also a lower abdomen protection. On the left, you can see the pocket for the soft armor, attached on the right: simply Velcro in the front and the protective area provided by the plate carrier is expanded. This way, the man is prepared if someone gets on your back.

Zentauron_Vulcan_6Inside look: air channels are meant to provide the wearer with cooling options. Interestingly, the compartment for the protective plate is closed towards the body (most other plate carriers we know close into the pocket). However, this solution does not have any negative impact on the comfort. In the Vulcan, you can see an SK4 plate, which can be obtained through BEST PROTECTION. Currently, the Vulcan is also available through a promotion that includes plates at a discounted price.

Zentauron_Vulcan_7The back of the Vulcan looks a bit like the front: Apart from the Velcro handle attached for emergencies, there is a large flap on the back, which accommodates the end pieces of the two-part modular cummerbund. The elastic pieces on the cummerbund ensure that it fits snugly on the wearer.

Zentauron_Vulcan_8So much Velcro calls for modularity. The modular extensions come in large and small sizes and can be Velcroed on the front or back. This expands the area and allows for attachment of drop-down pouches, for example.

CONCLUSION: The Vulcan is a very well-made, extremely solid plate carrier. 1000D Cordura makes it indestructible, a no-nonsense design provides functional security. However, it can be used as a small plate carrier with a breathable Grid Cummerbund or as a full system with lower abdomen protection and additional extensions. "Made in Germany" and meeting all TL requirements are additional indicators of the quality that this plate carrier offers.

You can get the Vulcan directly from ZENTAURON or from good gear retailers. It costs 279 euros. HERE you can find all the accessories. Together with BEST PROTECTION, ZENTAURON offers an SK4 package: the Zentauron Vulcan with plates is available HERE at a special price of 299 euros.
