REVIEW: X-Bionic Soma Cap

The body loses most of its heat through the head. So it's good that there's also a kind of "Watch Cap" from Combat Energizer, the X-Bionic Soma Cap. The sweat-wicking function of the garment is particularly pleasant here. And for those who like music, they will immediately know: with this cap, you look a little bit like DJ Ötzi.

In a foliage-like tone, the Soma Cap is a well-camouflaged operational cap that also goes nicely with Comtacs or other radio headsets. On the forehead, you can see the essential triangle. Here, sweat evaporates instead of being stored like with fleece Watch Caps.

DJ Ötzi lookalike from the side: especially when it goes over the ear (right), it looks very catchy. Anyway, the function is what matters. When it gets cold, the ear flaps are included (left).

CONCLUSION: Not really a beautiful cap, but a functional one. Especially when exerting yourself in the cold season, such as marching or carrying loads on the mountain, breathable clothing is a plus. The Soma Cap is great for outdoor use, but looks slightly socially conspicuous in urban-civilian settings. Unless, well, you're a fan of DJ Ötzi...
