Once again a classic American field pant in the style of the old-school BDU pants? With large accordion pockets on the thighs and wide like a sack and shapeless … But far off: the Vertx Phantom Ops Men's Tactical Pants are excellent tactical pants that are just as suitable for professional use as they are for urban lifestyle.
Fits well, whistles and has air: the Phantom Ops Men's Tactical Pants may look inconspicuous at first glance, but they are excellently crafted. They offer plenty of room in the legs, as they are spacious and comfortably wide, but this changes as you move up. When it says 34 in terms of waist size, the good fit is to be understood as tight. This pants will not forgive a belly or a sizable rear end.
There are two pockets at the back that are self-closing in a way, as they have a flap covering the pocket. This secures the contents very well, but may take some getting used to at first as it makes it harder to access the contents of the pocket (wallet).
There are nicely large side pockets, cut in a way that an ideal pocket knife fits. Just behind them is an external pocket that can hold something about the size of a Glock magazine. Both pockets have a "hidden pocket" that zips closed and is really hard to notice unless you know it's there.
The thigh pockets look a bit like the classic BDU accordion pockets, but they are constructed differently. They are not mounted externally, but are inserted, giving them a slim, inconspicuous profile. Inside each is an additional compartment.
CONCLUSION: A solid tactical pant that also stands out for its athletic cut. Minimalism for everyday wear and nice details for a pair of pants that brings joy. Vertx nails it …
The Vertx Phantom Ops Men's Tactical Pants are available for $65. In Germany, Vertx can be found at Recon Company.
