REVIEW: VertX Men's Kryptek Pant

07/01/2013By Redaktion

On June 14th, the Army wanted to present its new family of camouflages, but they didn't. One competitor was Kryptek with its futuristic camouflage patterns. But today it's not about the pattern but about the pants it's trying to hide. These pants are from VertX and unlike anything we've seen so far (click on the images to enlarge).

vertx_kryptek2.jpgThe VertX Pant already looks different from classical combat and BDU pants, not only because of the camouflage pattern. The pants look very smooth, even though they have thigh pockets, but unlike other pants, these are not patch pockets but inset.

This minimizes snagging and catching on filled pockets significantly. These pockets are not closable, but thanks to the design, they don't need to be. Inside there is a division that accommodates an M4 magazine or similar.

The knee area is reinforced, but no padding or similar can be inserted. The trouser hem is normal without any adjustment options. Especially here, the pants are cut wide, so they fit very well over boots and conceal ankle holsters well. The seams are double-stitched everywhere with very small stitches, which is intended to ensure high strength.

vertx_kryptek4.jpgThe pockets are designed in such a way that if a folding knife is carried in them, it stands completely vertical thanks to a horizontal finishing strip. In the right pocket, there is a secret compartment secured by a concealed zipper.

vertx_kryptek5.jpgThe back pockets are designed like jeans, but are equipped with a "credential trap." This means that passports or similarly sized items are held back by a flap inside. The waistband is equipped with 6 cm wide belt loops that easily accommodate all types of belts. The image also shows a good comparison between Multicam (belt) and Kryptek Highlander.

CONCLUSION: VertX more than lives up to its slogan "for the Operational Athlete" with these pants. A combat pant cut like jeans that, through thoughtful design, doesn't give the impression of tactical pants (except for the camouflage pattern). Kryptek Highlander itself is a novelty on the market and camouflages very well.

You can purchase the pants directly from VertX in 4 Kryptek patterns for $109.95. In Germany, VertX is available at Recon Company.
