Everyone talks about the weather, but not us! When the summer heat is over and we're mentally preparing for winter, it's time to unpack the long pants. We prefer tactical manufacturers, but we also like the "Gray Man" - HERE is our article on the Gray Man Theory - so we need something special. UF-PRO is one of the manufacturers we appreciate the most. That's why we've been wearing the Urban Pant for a while now.
Here it is, in all its length and glory. UF-PRO advertises this text for the pants: "'Tacticool' is not always your style? You don't feel comfortable in stiff jeans and stretch pants? Then the P-40 Urban Pants are made for you. Designed after our popular P-40 Pants, the Urban version offers excellent freedom of movement, comfortable fit, and the best knee protection in its class. And the best part: Your P-40 Urban Pants allow you to stay 'low profile.' They are designed to match civilian clothing, so you won't stand out from the crowd."
This is a high approach. Before we judge that, let's look at the features of the trousers. The Urban is announced as a sort of "derivative" of UF-PRO's tactical pants line. What makes it different? Well, certain noticeable components are reduced, everything is more integrated into the pants. Let's start at the top: the belt loops are simple. The other P-40 has double loops, so you can integrate a pistol belt. The D-ring provides the option to attach anything the owner needs to secure. By the way, for those who want to compare: HERE is the SPARTANAT Review of the P-40 All-Terrain Pants, sort of the "mothership" of the Urban.
What remains, however, is the part of the front pockets reinforced with Cordura. Essential for men who are always on alert. Normal fabric alone would wear out too quickly from the clip of a pocket knife or flashlight.
Let's be honest: we all have secrets. That's why the Urban has a small, fine "secret compartment." Smuggle in data sticks, carry credit cards discreetly, always have condoms on hand. Everything fits in the compartment that the observer tends to overlook.
At the fly, UF-PRO leaves you with the choice: do we want to open upwards or downwards today? This can be practical if a jacket obstructs zipping from the top. By the way, this pant is not cut very high on the waist, meaning the zipper is rather short. The consequence can be that if you have a larger part, like we do, you have to be very precise at the urinal. And always shake efficiently...
In the back, the Urban has two back pockets, which also zip closed. And UF-PRO clearly has a logo on the pants. From the back, you can also see that the pants were worked with two types of fabric again. The main body is made of Ripstop NyCo, while the seat and crotch of the pants are made of 4-Way-Stretch material. And just in case someone asks: by the way, this is the Low Profile Belt from Tardigrade Tactical.
Ass to the grass! The flexible fabric material is immediately noticeable and felt in the Balkan squat. It's simply more comfortable.
Looking at the complete side view, we see a rather classic pair of trousers that doesn't have any external pockets like most tactical pants do.
Nevertheless, everything you could wish for is there. On the back of each thigh, there is an open pocket with a tight "sock" inside.
The fabric holds the phone snugly when tucked in. It works great. It's also useful for driving, especially if you have a slim smartphone with you. The unusual part is carrying the phone in an open pocket out of sight.
When we find ourselves in crowds, it makes us feel uncomfortable. Somewhere in the back of our minds, there's the thought that someone could easily snatch the phone out of the pocket. So we switch temporarily to the front pant pocket.
On the thigh, each leg hides a pocket. It opens with a zip - UF-PRO loves zippers, have we said that before?
