"SloCam" does not mean that you are slowly well disguised. SloCam is rather a camouflage pattern that looks quite familiar, but has the distinct advantage of blending in very well in Central European wooded areas. No wonder, as SloCam is the camouflage pattern of the Slovenian Army. The area at the southern edge of the Alps is not much different from its northern neighbors. One thing they all have in common is that the popular Multicam does not quite fit ideally. And the name SloCam is not without reason. We at SPARTANAT take a look at the Striker Combat Uniform from UF PRO from Slovenia. (Click on all images to enlarge.)
When we come out of the bushes, the entire uniform is better visible. The top is the Striker SloCam combat jacket and the bottom is the corresponding combat trousers from UF PRO. Both are not baggy cut and fit well. The camouflage is subtle, but more on that later.
The jacket has a zip and is velcroed (left). Noticeable and also very practical is the fixed hood (top right) which is not very large. Definitely to be worn under a helmet if you have one. The end of the zip is free-hanging, designed so that you can work nicely with gloves. Shoulder pads are provided for the shoulders.
The Striker jacket is packed with pockets. One at the bottom rear (left), two on the arm (top right), each on the lower and upper arm, two on the chest (middle right), and two at the bottom front of the jacket (bottom right). All are zippered, with the chest and forearm pockets even zipped twice so you can access from different directions.
The trousers have many features, which we have already introduced with the UF PRO P40 . A stretch insert in brown fabric at the back (left), a "secret compartment" in the front pocket (top right), thigh pockets (middle right) that can be accessed via two zippers vertically when standing, horizontally when sitting in a car. And of course, the trousers are prepared to accommodate the excellent UF PRO knee protectors (bottom right), the knee pads made of orange plastic (not visible here).
The Striker and standing next to it, a pair of trousers from Crye Precision (left). Sort of SloCam next to Multicam. Secret twins, separated at birth. Holding the jackets against the sky (top right). No, it's not that thin, it's that rough. On the trousers (bottom right), the observer can see that two different fabrics were used; once normal fabric, but also a sack-like, coarser fabric, reminiscent of the Soviet KLMK camouflage suits. It makes the uniform very airy and light.
SloCam (right) looks like a larger zoomed-in Multicam (left), with a different color mix: dark green, light green, brown, coyote, and light white match better for our areas than the tones of Multicam, which are tailored to arid landscapes, but stand out quite a bit here. SloCam, on the other hand, fits Central Europe.
CONCLUSION: UF PRO manufactures the uniforms of the Slovenian Army and what we had here for testing looks impressive. Very good quality combined with the excellent features of UF PRO clothing make for a uniform that is extremely comfortable to wear. Airy and yet stable. Many practical pockets, good selection of fabrics. But the special feature is the Multicam-like camouflage pattern SloCam, which blends in very well in forests and fields. Perhaps even a kind of insider tip from the southern edge of the Alps...
The UF PRO® Striker SloCam Combat Trousers cost 129 Euros. The UF PRO® Striker SloCam Combat Jacket is available for 179.90 Euros. For those who prefer to wear combat shorts, the UF PRO® Striker SloCam Combat Shirt is priced at 60 Euros. The Base Cap is available for 15.60, the Boonie for 18.90 Euros.
