REVIEW: Toy Soldier Coyote 6094A Set

05/06/2013By Redaktion

If you are new and don't understand why some people are talking about things like "6094" all the time, then don't worry. Firstly, everyone has to learn about it, and secondly, it's quite simple: The US gear manufacturer London Bridge Trading numbers its equipment with four digits. And the plate carrier LBT-6094A is a standard model that has set standards. It is (now in AOR1 and AOR2) used by the SEALs and is very widespread. The "A" after the number means that it takes Medium SAPI plates, "B" carries Large. Today we present to you the Coyote 6094A set from Toy Soldier. (Click on all images to enlarge.)

The beautiful thing about this set is not only the pouches that come with it, namely everything a man needs to be complete. From top left to bottom right: The Triple-M4-Magazine Pouch holds six magazines; the 100rd Ammo Pouch is originally for belted ammunition, but here it provides additional storage space; the Small Utility Pouch does the same; the 70 oz Hydration Bag is really valuable, just put a water bladder in here and it's perfect; the Pistol Mag Pouch takes the pistol magazines you need for back-up, twice.

The whole thing mounted on the man. With MOLLE, you can of course decide what to take with you and where to position it. One thing we particularly like about this set is that the MOLLE material is very similar to a real 6094A. It's very soft and easy to loop. The end pieces are made stiff with a thin piece of plastic, which is turned upside down to secure the pouch.

The inside in detail: Toy Soldier has its own tag inside, where you can also enter the owner's name. Velcro is like the real one (although we still wonder what it's good for). Particularly pleasing is the strap that can be seen in the lower area, which allows you to adjust the fit of the 6094 on the body and even dispense with the cummerbund if necessary. This makes the plate carrier more airy. In most other replicas, this strap is forgotten. You can also see the very nice workmanship on the cummerbund here.

A closer look: The material is not Cordura, but a generic plastic fabric. If we look closely, the structure is a bit coarser than the Cordura on an original 6094 plate carrier. The seams are also not Mil-Spec. But this is not a combat carrier, it's for players. The color of the thread seems a bit too yellowish to us. But that's complaining at a very high level …. (In case of doubt, you can trace the seams with a darker pen.)

CONCLUSION: The Coyote 6094A set from Toy Soldier is a good offer, especially with the pouches. "Coyote" is misleading because the color is more khaki (a shade darker). For players, this set is a bargain with perfect equipment, a carefree package, so to speak. It's not Mil-Spec, but not everyone needs that...

The Toy Soldier Coyote 6094A Set (PC with Pouches) costs $129.90 (excluding shipping). There is also the Coyote 6094A alone (without pouches) for $95 (excluding shipping).
