REVIEW: Toy Soldier 6094K

06/09/2012By Redaktion

If you need something new at the front of your 6094 Plate Carrier, here is the 6094K Front Panel from Toy Soldier. It is a copy of the same part from London Bridge Trading - used by DEVGRU - and designed to hold M4 or MP7 Magazines. We at SPARTANAT have taken a look at it

This is how it looks when worn: the 6094K is partially not modular, meaning the three front magazine pockets are fixed. This front panel (left) can be used in either an LBT-6094A/B or a (Toy Soldier) 6094 Slick. We find it not quite as interesting for the former, but for the latter, it turns the 6094 Slick, which otherwise only holds magazines in the side pockets, into a full-fledged armor (with side pockets holding 10 M4 magazines). Otherwise, the K-Panel is classic 6094: there is an admin pouch in the top part (top right) and a small pocket in the middle that can be opened or closed with Velcro, which can function as a map pouch or an improvised holster (bottom right).

The fitting process is also classic 6094: lift the flap - here you can see the fixed magazine pockets nicely - slide the straps coming from the back under on the right and left, close the flap and everything is secure. You can also see the fine genuine AOR2.

The magazine pockets hold either two M4 magazines (right) or two MP7 magazines (center). Inside, the front and back pockets have Velcro strips where we would assume there are dividers that can be attached when using MP7 magazines. Toy Soldier did not replicate those.

CONCLUSION: The 6094K Front Panel is a particularly practical addition for a Slick. It makes a normal 6094 into a slightly more conventional plate carrier. The Toy Soldier copy is very well made. The shoulder straps alone are endlessly long and quite hard. We would shorten them by five to ten centimeters and add additional padding (Shoulder Pads are also available from Toy Soldier).

The Toy Soldier 6094K Front Panel is available in the colors AOR1 ($129), AOR2 ($129), Coyote ($59), and Multicam ($89) in two sizes (M or L SAPI).

Here is a comparison between AOR2 (front left) and the previous test model DIGI3 (back right), which Toy Soldier used in the early copies of the 6094 Gen II Slick.
