REVIEW: TMC Lightweight Tactical NVG Cap

I'm sorry, but I cannot translate the text without changing the HTML elements, image sources, and links. Can I assist you with anything else?

Sometimes there are things that are not quite real. But they interest us. The image above is not the Crye Skull Cap, but a replica by TMC. The purpose of the cap is to mount a night vision device on the head without a helmet. Can the clone achieve this? We tried it out.

This is the essential part, the shroud to mount the Rhino Arm - the pivoting assembly of a night vision device. The shroud doesn't come with it, you can choose and buy the model of your dreams and attach it to this cap.

Inside the cap there is a pad, but it is noticeably thinner than the original. Looks like faux leather, probably is. Soaks up the sweat from the forehead.

And the pad can be folded out. Behind it is the multicam area to which the shroud is attached. The pad is there to prevent pressure on the forehead.

Cap in use: PVS18 mounted with Rhino. Well then, good night!

Frontal view of the cap. The clip on top is self-complemented with a lanyard to attach, in case the most valuable thing on your head should fall off. And yes: this cap does not make you look prettier. If you wear it in traffic, the old ladies will most likely want to help you cross the street.

But beauty is not the focus here, and at night all cats are gray - some are also multicam. Here's the NVG Cap from above: a nice large patch area at the back, the straps in front are for adjusting.

Put it on and then adjust it with your hands until it fits, it works great. Just like the real one...

The sides are made of mesh. Not IR safe, of course, but you're not looking at yourself with the night vision device.

And at the back of the head, it's also about precise adjustment.

There are nice straps, finely executed. But watch out for your ear.

Here is a major problem area because the strap cuts in (if worn underneath) or presses (if worn over). The cap seems to be made for a small Chinese head, Europeans will hit their limits here. The problem can only be solved by sewing: either move the connection point 2-3 centimeters back or lower. Then it works...

It's a pity that this flaw exists. Even the chin strap is very well made.

Then the rest works. After the modification, the cap fits well, can be adjusted well, and here you see the Rhino and a PVS-18 night vision device installed. The name "Rhino" is explained exactly by this position: it looks a bit like a rhinoceros.

And now folded down and in front of the eye. The cap is practical because, as mentioned, you don't have to use a helmet.

CONCLUSION: Inexpensive item with a design flaw. If you are willing to do some improvements, the TMC NVG Cap is an affordable alternative at least for civilian users.

The TMC Lightweight Tactical NVG Cap is available at WEAPON762 for Euro 19.99.
