REVIEW: The BAT-Sleeve by Cdh-Tac Finland

10/16/2023By Redaktion

It is not always possible to carry a complete IFAK openly (open carry). Special groups of people such as bodyguards, flight security escorts, investigators, or undercover agents need to carry their equipment concealed and discreetly (concealed carry). This also applies to life-saving first aid equipment. Cdh-Tac Finland is a small one-man operation in Finland that specializes in tailoring tactical equipment. With "The BAT-Sleeve," he has designed a minimalist IFAK based on his personal operational experience. SPARTANAT took a closer look at this piece.

The BAT-Sleeve is a 100 x 140 x 5 mm elastic double sleeve and weighs only 34 grams. It comes with a Shock Cord with cord stopper. The material used is a woven polyester elastic band from TacticalTrim. BAT stands for Bandage and Tourniquet. Not to be confused with "The BAT" from The Dark Knight Trilogy starring Christian Bale as BATMAN.

The wide rubber loop is used to hold a compression bandage like the Israeli Bandage T3. First, a belt is threaded through this loop, then the bandage pack is inserted. The bandage sits at belt height. Inside, there is a hook and loop fastener for attachment to the loop fastener on the belt. For added security, the included Shock Cord can be used as a backup.

The narrower rubber loop is designed to hold a CAT-type tourniquet. We tested various tourniquets from CAT, SKALA Medical, SOF-T, SICH, and DNIPRO in the rubber loop. The tourniquet can be worn above or below the bandage as desired.

The wider rubber loop can also hold other items. A long gun magazine fits inside.

Or a radio device can be securely carried inside.

Who is The BAT-Sleeve designed for? For anyone looking for a compact, lightweight, and discreet way to carry important medical equipment.

The BAT-Sleeve is ideal for concealed carry. It is flat and sits close to the body.

Without any restrictions or issues for the wearer, The BAT-Sleeve can be carried under a plate carrier on the belt.

Open carry on the duty belt with the tourniquet down.

CONCLUSION: What would BATMAN say about this? I need one too! "The BAT - Bandage and Tourniquet Sleeve" by Cdh-Tac Finland is a simple and straightforward design for concealed carrying and carrying life-saving first aid material. It doesn't stand out, doesn't weigh much, and the items stay in place. The BAT-Sleeve doesn't bother you when sitting in a vehicle or train.
