REVIEW: TEMPLARS GEAR TG-TPC Platecarrier

07/14/2015By Redaktion

PenCott is quickly gaining popularity, especially from the East. While the beautiful pattern may appear more shyly with us, it seems that almost all of Poland is disguised in GreenZone. Philipp "WOLFMAN" Wolfertz has been using the Templars Gear Light Plate Carrier (TG-TPC) for several months and reports on his experiences.

The TG-TPC is a modern, versatile, and lightweight low-profile plate carrier. This is achieved through lightweight 500D Cordura material and the modern laser-cut process, which replaces conventional MOLLE webbing and thus saves weight.

The TPC is available in five different colors/patterns: Pencott GreenZone, Woodland, Multicam, Ranger Green, and Coyote Brown. Additionally, there are two different sizes (M and L), depending on the size of the protection plates used. There are no separate compartments for soft ballistic panels.

The following items are included:

– Platebags front and back
– Cummerbund (hybrid cummerbund)
– 2 detachable shoulder pads (comfort pads, shoulder)
– 4 detachable body pads (comfort pads, body)
– detachable front panel (TPC panel)

The wearing comfort of the TPC is very good. It can be easily adjusted to the wearer's body through the elastic cummerbund and adjustable shoulder straps in a few seconds. When adjusted tightly, it sits securely without wobbling. The weight is evenly distributed from the shoulders to the torso. The skeleton cummerbund and removable body pads on the inside of the platebags provide good ventilation.

CONCLUSION: The workmanship is very good, especially considering the price of about 150 EUR. The PC has been in use by the author for three months. So far, there have been no seams coming loose or tears in the highly precise laser cutting. However, compared to high-priced competing products like a Lindnerhof Gen V or Mayflower APC, some seams could have been done a bit stronger.

Overall, Templars Gear provides a very interesting and affordable alternative to the plate carriers of established competitors with the TPC.

You can purchase the TG-TGPC directly from the online shop of Templars Gear for a friendly price of 146.60 euros.
