Tasmanian Tiger is known for good backpacks and the family is constantly growing. The newest member is called Urban Tac Pack 22 and we have already taken a detailed look at it.
Here hangs the seemingly unremarkable newcomer in all its glory. The Urban Tac Pack 22 measures approximately 48 x 26 x 12 cm and has a capacity of, you guessed it, 22 liters. Our sample is in classic olive green, but more color variants will follow.
The Urban Tac Pack has a stylishly simple exterior design and comes without many gimmicks. Even when full, it does not bulge on the back. When empty, it weighs only 920 grams thanks to the 700d Cordura.
The "Padded Back System" from Tasmanian Tiger was chosen as the carrying system. A good choice for this medium-sized backpack.
The Urban Tac Pack is equipped with a chest and hip belt so it does not slip around when running. Those who do not need them can simply remove these belts. The shoulder straps also have a few laser-cut PALS slots in the chest area.
The shoulder straps are securely connected with a "Ladder lock", no quick-release buckle, which is not a disadvantage in our opinion.
The attachment points for the elastic cord are newly designed. These are made of Paracord, which we really like, because who doesn't love Paracord? Also visible is the zipper for the side compartment known from Tasmanian Tiger.
The opening of the side compartment on the Urban Tac Pack is approximately 23 cm long and can fit quite a bit.
The main compartment can be almost fully opened with a YKK zipper. Simply pull it down to the bottom and you can fold the lid away.
When you do that, the Urban Tac Pack presents its quite spacious interior. As you can see, a lot fits inside.
A new feature of the Urban Tac Pack is the material used for the small compartments on the inside of the lid. They are made of a transparent fabric with a kind of hexagonal rip stop. This way, you can always see what you have in each compartment, and unlike the classic mesh fabric, nothing tiny can slip through.
The mesh pockets are actually from the Tasmanian Tiger Modular Pack 45+ - HERE in our review - and fit perfectly. Also, all velcro pockets, like in our case an EDC Insert from Helikon-Tex - HERE in the review - fit well inside.
This makes the Urban Tac Pack also suitable for longer trips into the forest. Food and other accessories will fit inside.
As you may have already guessed, the back panel inside is equipped with the familiar PALS velcro panels. So everything in the Urban Tac Pack has its order, if you want. On the sides, you can see a round elastic band and two cord stoppers.
This is the internal compression system of the Urban Tac Pack. This way, the thickness can be reduced by about three centimeters.
Naturally, the backpack is also equipped with a back support. A plastic plate with an inserted aluminum rod.
