The ideal volume for short trips ranges from 10 to 30 liters. The larger the pack, the more you pack - and take unnecessary items with you. In this size range, less is more tactically. And a discreet backpack in "Grey man style" helps to blend in with the surroundings. Tasmanian Tiger has achieved the perfect symbiosis of comfort, volume, and style with the Tac Pack 22 that we want to show you today. This version is in Carbon Grey and only available at TACWRK.

The Tac Pack series from Tasmanian Tiger consists of two backpacks: the Tac Pack 45 and the Tac Pack 22 presented here. While the Tac Pack 45 is already a full-fledged hiking backpack for multi-day tours, the Tac Pack 22 is designated as a pure daypack.

TT TacPac22 8With a volume of 22 liters, it hits the exact middle of the desired volume for a 1-3 day backpack. With 10 liters, you usually have to make considerable compromises on what to bring, while 20 liters are optimal.

TT TacPac22 9The dimensions of the T22 are 50cm in height, 25cm in width, and 15cm in depth. The material used is a mix of 700d Cordura and Tasmanian Tiger's own T-Square RIP. The T-Square is woven from 210d fibers and has the classic ripstop look - providing maximum stability with very low weight. Additionally, the T-Square is abrasion-resistant and waterproof due to the triple PU coating. The hardware chosen fits perfectly with the backpack: small Fastex buckles and zippers are used. No expense was spared on the material, with brand-name components selected. The Fastex buckles have just the right resistance, and the zippers run smoothly. For better grip, the outer zippers are equipped with a Paracord zipper pull.

TT TacPac22 4The overall workmanship is top-notch and clean. The seams are straight and well-made, there is nothing more to say.

TT TacPac22 15The backpack is divided into two compartments: a main compartment and an attached front compartment. The main compartment, like many backpacks, appears quite unspectacular - simply a large compartment to store things. On the back wall, there is an elastic slot for hydration bladders, which can be secured in the upper area with a Velcro closure. Additionally, a small loop is included for attaching more items. Of course, the pass-through for the hydration tube has also been thought of. This can be found on the top of the Tac 22 in the middle and is marked with a water drop. The zipper of the main compartment is covered with a flap and can be opened wide.

TT TacPac22 12The front compartment is the same size as the main compartment but much shallower. Here you will find two mesh pockets of different sizes - the lower one is about the height of an AR magazine, while the upper one is slightly shorter. Both pockets are equipped with a zipper without a pull tab and can be opened at the top of each pocket. You can also load items in front of the organizer pockets, but space there is very limited due to the flatness of the front compartment. In the upper area, a small carabiner with a red band is sewn, perfect for securing keys. The zipper of the front compartment is exposed (has no covering flap like the main compartment) and fits perfectly with the overall look of the pack.

TT TacPac22 11Other features of the backpack are also noteworthy: On the front compartment, there is the typical expansion compartment for the Tac Pack series. This can be opened and expanded with a central zipper. Thanks to the elastic material inside and the overlying compression strap, you can securely store both bulky jackets and helmets. This further increases the overall volume of the backpack. On the front compartment, you will find small ripstop areas with laser-cut slits in the lower corners, perfect for attaching slim molle pouches or looping bungee cord. If water enters the slits, there is a small hole laser-cut at the bottom, which serves as a drainage eyelet.

TT TacPac22 6On each side of the pack, there is a hydration bottle pocket made of the same elastic material used in the expansion compartment. These pockets are large enough to accommodate Nalgene 1-liter bottles and are perfect for 0.4-liter Nalgene or similar bottles. The top edge of the pockets is slightly stiffened, making it easier to insert the water bottles and providing stability. In the middle, there is a small tab designed for easy gripping.

Of course, there are compression straps on the pack. At this size, one strap on each side is sufficient - centrally positioned and can be opened with Fastex buckles.

TT TacPac22 14To carry the backpack comfortably by hand, it has a carrying loop on the top, securely sewn and additionally coated with a rubberized material.

TT TacPac22 10Impressive and unusual for a backpack of this size is the carrying system. The back is completely lined with mesh material, with the grey areas being more heavily padded. This allows for air circulation between the C-shaped pads and ensures comfortable wear. The system is completed with a removable hip belt.

TT TacPac22 5Despite its slim shape, the belt has substantial padding made of mesh, and even includes a small zippered pocket on the left side. The wings are not connected, making it very easy to remove.

TT TacPac22 4If you believe that this compromises stability, you are mistaken. Thanks to Velcro on the front and back of each wing, they are securely attached and cannot be pulled out even under force. The belt is closed with Fastex, and the excess strap is secured with an elastic band.

TT TacPac22 3The shoulder straps are slightly anatomically shaped and also padded. In addition to a D-ring on each side, there is also an adjustable chest strap. The length adjustment is regulated by ladder sliders, meaning the strap is not quickly detachable.
