REVIEW: Tasmanian Tiger Reinforced Cummerbund

The current trend is clear, everything should be lighter, more stable and better. TASMANIAN TIGER is also keeping up with the times and now offers an improved cummerbund for some of their plate carriers.

The Reinforced Cummerbund is sold in pairs. Thanks to Velcro, it can be quickly attached to the plate carrier. The special thing about it is the material, which is a reinforced cummerbund. It is made of polyamide, which does a very good job.

The outside (shown on the right side in the image) is equipped with classic MOLLE/PALS loops, so additional pouches can be easily attached. The inside is completely lined with hook and loop fasteners.

The width is 7.5 cm, which is similar to the cummerbund of the CRYE AVS. So let's see if the SPS pouches from CRYE fit.

Yes, they fit and even quite perfectly. Due to the ROC buckle on the front, you have to slide the pouches on from the back.

On the body, the Reinforced Cummerbund provides good and airy support. However, a small detail was forgotten in the (pre-) model that we have here: a small stretch strip.

Many of you may know it, the plate carrier fits tightly to the body and then movement comes into play. You start to breathe more, but your chest is squeezed between two plates and the air begins to slowly disappear. That's where you need a stretch strip. Apart from this extreme case, the plate carrier with the Reinforced Cummerbund wears very well.

CONCLUSION: With the Reinforced Cummerbund, TASMANIAN TIGER is at the cutting edge. The construction is excellently executed. The plate carrier feels much more stable on the body and, although smaller in surface area than the normal side piece, it is at the same time lighter and more stable. The Reinforced Cummerbund not only fits on TT plate carriers, but also on all others that have ROC buckles and Velcro. A good improvement.
