From the house of Tasmanian Tiger, we have here the TT Plate Carrier MKIV. The MKIV is a lightweight plate carrier with a removable front panel in two different sizes, as well as a flexible release system. In this review, we will see how flexible it really is and what sets it apart. The top immediately catches the eye. On the right is the SR buckle, which is mountable on both sides and allows for quick on and off. On the left is the trigger for the quick release system.
There is also a small integrated admin pouch on the top, closed with Velcro. Inside, there are three rubber loops for organization. A small drainage eyelet is also lasercut in to prevent water from collecting in the compartment.
Another look at the buckle, it doesn't press while wearing thanks to the large shoulder pads, making the plate carrier very comfortable. External rubber loops also allow for cable management or for threading a hydration tube.
View of the shoulder pads from above. These go all the way from the front to the back and are fixed to the shoulder strap with Velcro. This prevents them from sliding back and forth. Here we also want to note the details of the TT production: the carrier is made of 700D Cordura, but it features a mix of lasercut and traditional sewing work. All parts that may be subject to excessive stress were reinforced with stitches, while the rest was laid out with Lasercut to save weight. The total weight without plates is 1.30kg/1.55kg, depending on the size chosen.
Perspective change - front panel flipped up. It can also be removed if desired. Interesting detail, the loops around the cummerbund are offset for easier opening, so they don't get in the way.
Cummerbund opened, revealing Velcro everywhere. The two loops in the middle are for mounting the interchangeable front panel.
These two small loops at the bottom are for attaching accessories. A carabiner and gloves or small gadgets can be fastened here. Or a waist bag that is directly connected to the carrier.
The large loop at the bottom can be easily grabbed with the thumb to open the compartment for the protection plate. By the way, there are more accessories hidden in it upon delivery. But more on that later.
Also included are two internal radio pockets. These can also be removed or expanded via MOLLE if needed. Magazines fit as well.
No, we didn't injure ourselves with the plate carrier, that happened during cooking. Thanks for your concern. I guess we need more training. But here we are talking about the radio pockets. These have elastic material on the side to adapt to the size of the stored object, as well as lasercut MOLLE on the outside for additional attachments. When not in use, they lie flat and do not cause any interference.
Jumping back to the shoulder and the release system. This can also be mounted on the left or right, or simply not at all. TT provides all the necessary accessories to mount it as desired. The reverse process: To open, simply pull the tab, and the plastic cable will be pulled out. The plate carrier can then be easily removed or will simply fall off.
The cable runs inside the shoulder pads towards the back. Here the shoulder pads opened. It is clear that there are dedicated cable guides sewn in for the cable to fit optimally.
In the back, it then connects
