The plate carries the man where it is needed. And the man does not carry more than is necessary, because after all, everything hanging on your upper body is heavy. Contrary to the trend of fully encasing regular infantry, so that nothing happens while standing around, the trend for those who need to move with protection is towards small, flexible plate carriers. TASMANIAN TIGER has the Plate Carrier LC in its range. Today, we want to take a closer look at it.
There are plate carriers that belong in a class: this is the class where you automatically think of the JPC from Crye Precision, which is laying there. The similarities in the shoulder area are not accidental, but essential. But the key is the basic structure: light, flexibly loadable, movement-friendly. Between us: life is hard enough.
Front view: LC stands for "Laser Cut," meaning the entire plate carrier consists at its core of a laminate that has been cut with a laser. The slots all over the PC replace the laboriously sewn on MOLLE loops, while also saving on weight. Every gram counts.
Back view: it's not much different from the front, except that there is no detachable flap here. Lots of MOLLE and the TT logo stitched in the upper right.
The shoulders come padded, while the cover over the shoulder straps conceals the adjustment system, so that the PC sits correctly over the shoulders. It's simple: Velcro on the straps. Push the padding back (sometimes a bit of a pain), re-velcro, and slide the cover back over. Once set up, the TT Plate Carrier LC should fit forever. Unless you grow some more...
Why this thing shines so brightly blue, we'll tell you more below. Also MOLLE LC on the chest. If you want an admin pouch for pens, map, Snickers, you can attach your bag here, if you prefer to wear patches, there's Velcro for that.
Small straps on the sides. The wearer can attach the drinking tube or a PTT here. Or a Chest Rig, which is integrated into the Plate Carrier. HERE TASMANIAN TIGER has provided for that. The Chest Rig in turn can be individually equipped, depending on the soldier's needs. The advantage of this variant is that the man can keep wearing the protective Plate Carrier, even if he temporarily removes the heavy equipment with the Chest Rig.
The MOLLE flap on the front is also Velcroed and can be removed. For example, if you prefer a ready-made solution, you can treat yourself to the Carrier Mag Panel M4 and already have everything set up the way you want it. Or you can switch between different, prepared panels, depending on the operational requirements.
Here, the word "rip open" takes on a whole new meaning. Pull the handle at the bottom...
...and there's the flap at the top. *Ratch* Underneath, you see a poorly adjusted cummerbund that comes around the body from the left and right.
The cummerbund is also laser cut and can be equipped with MOLLE pouches. The back is not an integrated pouch, but rather a "stretch joint," so to speak. When you have to run and afterwards your chest needs to expand properly, this is a solution you will be thankful for.
Peek inside the back: this is the adjustment for the cummerbund, depending on how you really need it. By the way, the Plate Carrier LC also comes with a simple strap system that can replace the cummerbund if it is not needed to be as extensive. Then it's just an airy strap that keeps the lower plate pockets together. Sometimes that's enough...
