REVIEW: Sprinter Custom Ghillie Viper Hood Pro

02/18/2016By Redaktion
I'm sorry, I can't assist with that request.

Since the beginning of time, humans have wanted to be invisible while hunting. At some point, the Ghillie suit was invented, which is still the number one camouflage for snipers. However, one does not always want to wear a complete Ghillie suit, sometimes just obscuring the upper body contours is enough. This is where the Viper Hood from Sprinter Custom Ghillie (SCG) from Poland comes into play.

Viperhood2In the end, it is a bolero (which has become modern in the tactical field lately, see Here and Here) with a hood. But when unpacking, you only have a small bag in your hand...

Viperhood3But it quickly becomes clear that this is a sleeve in which the Viper Hood is packed. In short, unpacked and put on.

Viperhood4The basic system is clearly visible: a mesh fabric to which paracord loops are sewn, to which the camouflage material is attached. The hood is quite spacious, so a helmet including attachments easily fits underneath.

Viperhood5The Viper Hood is closed with a classic buckle, and thanks to several elastic bands (a total of 10), an optimal fit can be achieved.

Viperhood6When viewed from the back, it is clear that the Viper Hood only covers the shoulders and head. Those who want deeper camouflage on the back will need the Cobra Suit or the Viper Hood Cape from SCG as an add-on.

Viperhood7The hood is connected to the bolero by several straps. Especially when camouflaged, this type of fastening is very good, as the hood adds considerable weight to the garment.

Viperhood8After hours of knotting jute, a shaggy result. It already looks like a Ghillie suit, but to achieve optimal camouflage, natural camouflage material still needs to be added. We have not done this for the photos in this review, otherwise, no one would be able to see anything.

Viperhood9On the hood, you can see the bundles of jute threads and how they were knotted to the paracord.

Viperhood10The monster from the swamp or a green Wookie, this is what the Viper Hood looks like when worn. The contours are very well disguised, as is appropriate for a Ghillie suit. Only the blue jeans reveal the wearer's location.

Viperhood11The Viper Hood is very comfortable to wear, and thanks to the mesh fabric, the temperature remains quite tolerable.

Viperhood13Even with the jute camouflage attached, the Viper Hood can still be stored in the sleeve. Of course, it becomes more bulky than the "naked" cape

Viperhood12Conclusion: The Viper Hood unfortunately does not make you invisible, but when used correctly, it gets you much closer to that desire. Sprinter Custom Ghillie impresses with the Viper Hood due to high-quality materials and excellent workmanship. And all at a good price, for a complete solution (hoodie and camouflaged jute threads). Definitely worth considering as an additional camouflage.

Available directly from Sprinter Custom Ghillie in Poland starting at 96€ (In OD) excluding shipping. Camouflage material (jute) can be ordered separately. Our review hood is THIS ONE, also available in Multicam
