After a long day's march finally arrived at the camp, there is nothing better than taking off your boots and letting your feet breathe. But then you have to go out to get this and that - back into the boots? No, you want to avoid that. A simple trekking sandal weighs hardly anything, packs well, and makes life much easier. The company Source - known for hydration packs and accessories - has designed an extremely chic pair in camouflage in addition to the civilian sandals - the Source Stream Sandals.
Weighing just under 600 grams in size 40 and extremely flat-packable with simple straps, the Stream Sandals always provide an alternative to boots. But not only do Source's shoes look good in the camp - they are also very suitable for crossing bodies of water or for use in simple terrain as regular footwear.
As is usual for a sandal, the toes are free at the front and there are 3 straps that hold the foot. The front strap is simply buckled over the foot and fastened with Velcro.
Another strap runs over the instep and merges into the third strap, which provides stability above the heel. Velcro is also used for fastening here. The intersection points are held with D-rings, with the strap material always lying underneath to prevent pressure points on the foot (this is not the case with the TEWA Hurricane, for example).
The sole has a good tread and provides good grip even on slippery surfaces. The footbed is slightly profiled and has a Cupron (copper) coating to prevent bacteria formation and odors.
The sandals come in a slim transport bag in coyote color. The sandals themselves are "Unicam," a camouflage pattern inspired by Multicam.
CONCLUSION: Light, comfortable, and robust - that's basically all you expect from a sandal. Source meets all the criteria with the Stream model and adds a nice subtle look and a transport bag on top.
You can get the Stream Sandals at various retailers for around 70€
