When it comes to long-range shooting, a red dot won't cut it, you'll need something with magnification. Sightmark offers the Latitude 6.25 – 25 x 56 PRS riflescope, designed for entering the world of precise shooting.
First, here are the technical details listed:
Magnification: | 6.25-25 x 56 |
Length: | 358 mm |
Main Tube: | 34 mm |
Reticle: | PRS, 1st focal plane |
Eye Relief: | 107-120 mm |
Adjustment: | Milliradian, 0.1 MRAD per click |
Elevation Adjustment: | 31 MRAD, with Zero Stop |
Windage Adjustment: | 20 MRAD |
Parallax Adjustment: | 20 Yards (18.28 m) to Infinity |
Weight: | 1,015 g |
Now onto the most important aspect of such a high magnification optic, the image quality. Everything appears color-accurate and pleasantly sharp all the way to the edges, which is often a big challenge.
The Latitude 6.25 – 25 x 56 PRS is equipped with a reticle in the first focal plane. This means that as you increase the magnification, the reticle also "zooms in" and becomes larger.
Not quite as convincing was the somewhat sensitive eye box, the area in height and side where you get a complete target image without black edges behind the eyepiece. The eye box is good up to 20x magnification, but beyond that, there is not much room for error. At the maximum 25x magnification, the shot placement must be perfect, otherwise you will have noticeable shadows in the field of view, or you may not see anything at all.
For a riflescope in this magnification range, this is rather standard. We have demonstrated this in the video.
The PRS reticle with all its markings and hold points is designed for quickly estimating and compensating for different distances and wind conditions. The center of the PRS reticle is fine enough for precise aiming.
All the small bars, lines, marks, and numbers of the PRS reticle are best visible at around 12x magnification. Below that, it can be very tiring to identify them.
The reticle illumination locks in clearly at five levels. You have the option of Red or Green. The Latitude 6.25 – 25 x 56 PRS is powered by a CR2032 battery.
The entire reticle plate is brightly illuminated enough, even for daytime use.
The adjustment turrets are good for turning and noticeable click with each use.
The turret for adjusting the height. With the small adjusting wheel secured with a set screw, the zero setting can be fixed.
The side adjustment screw also works very precisely.
On the left side in the direction of the target, you will find the illumination knob as well as the parallax adjustment or focus setting. These are found in all optics with such high magnification, as otherwise at shorter distances (under 300 m) the image would simply not be sharp.
The magnification selection ring is solidly executed. It is relatively stiff, which makes sense, but not too much. The magnification can be smoothly adjusted between 6.25x and 25x, which corresponds to a ratio of 1:4.
A diopter adjustment is also available.
CONCLUSION: The Sightmark Latitude 6.25 - 25 x 56 PRS is seen as strong competition for long-range scopes in the mid-range market segment due to its solid optical qualities. With practice, thanks to the many reference points in the view, the target can be easily hit even at great distances. At maximum magnification, the image becomes very dark and the eye box, as already mentioned, very small. Up to 20x, the Latitude 6.25 - 25 x 56 PRS is a dream to use. Sightmark offers you a very good price-performance ratio with good optical performance, for which you would otherwise have to pay significantly more.
The Sightmark Latitude 6.25 - 25 x 56 is available at Armamat for €1,039.90 in black.
