REVIEW: SIERRA-313 Recce Boonie

One can only put the lid on if one has a lid. We do not want to encourage hitting here - to hit. Already having a lid, there are also some good reasons to cover your head, and it doesn't always have to be ashes: Rain, sun, wind can be tough on your head and hair. And with a camouflaged Recce Boonie from SIERRA-313, you are protected and also better camouflaged - here by the wonderful Kryptek Mandrake.

The special magic of the SIERRA-313 Recce Boonies: they are handmade, made to individual order (special requests can also be considered). And it doesn't always have to be Flecktarn, although the quality goods come from Germany. 35 different fabric colors or camouflage patterns are available. Mandrake, we think, fits quite well into Central European botany. But the request show also includes PenCott patterns like BadLands and GreenZone, DDR Stricheltarn or OD, and - we were amazed, Loden. The Recce Boonie is classic in its form: the part that covers the head has two ventilation holes on each side. Inside, the Recce Boonie is lined olive and there is red fabric sewn into the lid, which actually forms a pocket. This means you can also store something here (e.g. a photo of a loved one) or the Boonie can be turned inside out and worn with red on the outside, a signal color for emergencies. (Those out in the mountains should perhaps not test this on bulls.)

CONCLUSION: The Recce Boonie is a fine piece of gear, excellently sewn and wonderfully handcrafted. The large selection of camouflage patterns is great. And all at a reasonable price. An individual piece of equipment that is suitable for use and also serves as a statement for the summer or autumn vacation.
