Sometimes being prepared is everything. Especially outdoors, a good knife can make the difference between survival and "mouse-ing out." And if it's less dramatic: with the general trend towards more fun in nature, there has also been a high demand for reliable answers to the question "What is a good work knife that I can really put to the test?" The Prepper One Outdoor was the first response from quality manufacturer Pohl Force to the request to see a nice bushcraft knife from this tactical knife manufacturer.

And it responds with great elegance. Almost 12 centimeters of blade are the measure of things. Here on the left side adorned with the Pohl Force logo. And made in Europe, like everything from Pohl Force. Here are the key data of this knife:

  • Overall length: 247 mm
  • Blade length: 117 mm
  • Blade thickness: 6 mm
  • Weight: 280 g
  • Blade steel: Niolox
  • Blade surface: Satin
  • Handle material: G-10
  • Sheath: Kydex® with carrying system
  • Included accessories: Kydex® sheath with carrying system, lanyard, Pohl Force rubber patch, key for loosening handle screws

When it comes to materials, Pohl Force has chosen Niolox steel: a high-alloy carbon steel. It stands out because it is very rust-resistant and holds a good edge. It is also used in kitchen knives. But it is also ideal for survival and bushcraft knives. The blade shape is simply beautiful - and practical.

Yet this knife hides a secret. The orange paracord - great for quickly finding a misplaced knife - is not only a scraper for the obligatory fire steel, but it is also a screwdriver.

The special key fits the screws that hold together the G10 handle pieces.

These are the screws. What else is there to say...

When these are opened, a cavity opens up in the handle: Full Tang with a hole, so to speak. The space can be used to store a small survival kit inside. Or, according to the inventor, the knife can be transformed into a spear without fragile handle scales.

G10 is a good material for handle scales. Here you can see that the storage space in the handle is continued by an extension in the handle scales. At the same time, the scales have a new, pleasantly understated shape for Pohl Force. The texturing provides grip and secure handling and is discreetly inconspicuous.

The handle without scales. Hard metal, could also be wrapped with paracord. Or simply tied to a branch. The spear is ready.

On the back, you will find the Pohl Force logo.

The sheath that was included with the early versions of the Prepper One. Kydex has remained.

However, the super practical Tek-Lok was later replaced with a simple fabric loop for the belt. Perhaps because it looks more "bushcrafty."

We would, however, prefer the Sek-Lok to any other mounting option. Simply because with one hand you can adjust the width to fit the belt, and also because the owner can determine a carry angle, as shown
