PenCott GreenZone camouflage works great in forests and fields, but mostly performs poorly in urban or mountainous areas. That's where a different color scheme is needed – and it's called Metropolis. We took a closer look at PERUNIKA from Slovenia and their Gorka 3 top with ACU Combat Pant in the wonderful PenCott Metropolis.
Here is the uniform set. Don't worry, more pictures will come where you can see something. We just want to show that PenCott Metropolis blends in well in rocky terrains and concrete, almost merging with the environment. Only the velcro on the upper arm breaks the camouflage pattern and gives you away.
Let's start with the pants. It is the current version of the Slovenian army uniform, based on the legendary US Army ACU Pants, and is well-made. It is made of NIR-coated 50/50 NYCO material.
The back view of the pants. The fit is good and true to size. Our tester normally wears jeans size 33/32 and the size L pants fit well.
Let's work our way up from the bottom. The waist adjustment at the hem of the pants is easily done with a cord. If desired, it can be removed and replaced with a round elastic.
On the lower legs, you have a long velcro pocket on each side. The pocket is really deep and you can't fit your whole hand inside. So be careful about what you put in there.
Located a bit higher are the reinforced knees. A light padding can be inserted from below. Unfortunately, a padding insert from UF PRO does not fit.
Naturally, large thigh pockets on the sides of the thighs are a must. On the Perunika ACU, these are buttoned with slotted buttons.
The pockets are really spacious and do not have any compartments or attachments inside. Just one big pocket.
Then we have also arrived at the waistband. Of course, normal trouser pockets should never be missing. The belt loops are really spacious. In the picture you can see a 50 mm wide belt, but up to 70 mm would easily fit.
The Perunika ACU is closed with a button placket with small slotted buttons. We like it that way.
To ensure a good fit without being restrictive, the waistband is equipped with an elastic gathering.
Before we forget, there are also buttoned back pockets.
We like the Gorka cut because it is truly practical. However, the PERUNIKA Gorka 3 Jacket is not intended to be understood as classic heavy outerwear, as only the cut was used, as the material is rather light compared to a Russian Gorka.
The Gorka 3 Jacket is completely buttonable and cut beautifully baggy. All the design elements of a real Gorka can be found.
There are no surprises on the back, just the Pencott Metropolis camo pattern.
The jacket fully opened. Unfortunately, the inside is white, which always bothers us a bit with camouflage jackets, but it is on the inside and in an emergency, you can use it to surrender. You can also clearly see the sewn black elastic bands that provide a tailored look.
Unlike the pants, the Gorka 3 Jacket uses regular BDU buttons instead of slotted buttons. It's a shame, but it works perfectly.
The hood is comfortably large. It can also fit a helmet underneath. The small shield on the forehead is also very practical.
Thanks to the drawstrings, the hood can be tightened nicely. Then the wind doesn't whistle in so strongly. The 50/50 NYCO material is not really windproof, but if desired, the jacket could be waxed to make it wind and rain resistant.
There is an elastic band at the cuff and about a hand's width behind it, there is another elastic gathering. This ensures a good fit on the forearm.
Overall, the Gorka 3 Jacket has "only" 4 pockets. Two Velcro upper arm pockets and two buttoned hip pockets. What else do you need. The Velcro areas for badges are in Coyote color, which matches well with the camouflage, but also breaks it up a bit. If you want the ultimate camouflage, you would have to remove the Velcro areas.
The hip pockets are closed with a button and offer space for small items.
Find the uniform. In a rocky environment, PenCott Metropolis does a very good job.
Here's a zoomed in view. We plan to collect more photos over the months in various environments and then present them to you.
CONCLUSION: Finally a uniform in PenCott Metropolis and in the Gorka style, we are very excited. The construction of the uniform is very good, after all, it is sewn in Slovenia. The price-performance ratio of the uniform set is very convincing and we can't really say anything negative about it. We are simply satisfied with it. A long-term test will show how the uniform performs, but that will take some time. But most importantly: you get a camouflage set in a very exclusive camo.
The Gorka 3 top in Pencott Metropolis is available directly from PERUNIKA for 109.90 euros, the ACU pants are also available there for 109.90 euros in sizes S to XXL. The pants are also available in "Long" sizes.
