REVIEW: Pentagon Achilles Trekking

07/01/2015By Redaktion

Outdoors on duty always means that good footwear is essential. Trekking shoes have often replaced the boots provided by the service simply because the quality and weight are more user-friendly for the wearer compared to what comes from the supply closet. However, the style is slowly turning back and trekking shoes now have a tactical look. The Achilles Trekking Boots come from PENTAGON. We tested them for you.

SONY DSCPentagon is not THE Pentagon, but a manufacturer from Greece. Its line is self-described as "Tactical Sportswear" and emphasizes that the gear is wearable in everyday life. This is also true for the Achilles Boots that we are describing here. When you pull up the pants, you can see that these boots are "Mid" height and therefore provide good ankle protection. The material is lined with breathable "Coolmax," giving the boots a water column of 4,000 mm.

SONY DSCOtherwise, the Achilles are durable: RipStop fabric combined with leather makes for a practical, light shoe. They have a durable toe cap at the front to ensure everything stays in place. They are also lightly lined inside. Trekking shoes can be warm even in summer due to their durability.

SONY DSCThe historical Achilles' heel was his heel, but that is not the case with this one. The shape and cut ensure that the heel fits securely and is protected.

SONY DSCThe sole is grippy and enjoys both terrain and road. It doesn't like wet linoleum floors as it tends to squeak on them. But let's be honest: how often do you encounter linoleum floors in the great outdoors... These boots are made for outdoor use.

SONY DSCWorn in pairs: the Achilles Trekking Boots look good for trekking and outdoor games, while also being highly suitable for everyday wear, true to their "Tactical Sportswear" nature.

CONCLUSION: Tactical footwear that is also suitable for civilian life. The Achilles boots feel comfortable in both worlds, enduring hard work as well as leisure activities, all at a friendly price.

You can get the Pentagon Achilles Trekking Boots from Pentagon retailers in Germany and via BLACKFROG, who also distribute them in Germany. They cost 115 Euros.
