REVIEW: PACA Low Vis vs. Toy Soldier PACA

12/04/2010By Redaktion

A PACA should not be missing in any collection. After we have already reviewed the Pantac copy in comparison with the original (here), we now compare the Toy Soldier copy with the real PACA Low Vis. And we'll tell you right away: we were impressed. Above are the two protective vests. In the foreground each Toy Soldier, in the background the original. The color difference stands out so much because we used the flash, in normal light the two PACAs look so similar that we almost confused them. A small difference in detail is the various widths of Velcro strips used. But you have to look very closely for that...

Back view in comparison. The side closures of the two PACAs are divided differently. What also convinces with the Toy Soldier PACA is the fabric quality, which differs only slightly from the genuine one, but clearly from the Pantac.

The interior in detail: The mesh is the same, but laid differently - horizontally in the genuine one, vertically in the replica. Both companies have their tags inside.

Inside the PACA, the replica, like the genuine one, also has the feature that it is suitable for holding SAPIS, i.e. hard plates. The straps for this purpose can be seen here. In our case, both PACAs are only suitable for holding plates up to size M.

Especially nice with the Toy Soldier PACA: the soft armor panels are included as dummies for the front and back. In principle, nothing more than thin foam, sewn into black fabric.

CONCLUSION: The Toy Soldier PACA convinces as a replica with its attention to detail. It is the best replica we know so far. And it also includes dummy soft panels, which fit well here (in the original, one side of the dummies is too short).

The NSW Version Low Vis Body Armor costs $54.90 at Toy Soldier. There is also a version with a spray-painted frog or one with a punisher logo - both cost $74.90. At Triadtactical, the genuine PACA Low Visibility Carrier (just the fabric shell) costs $139.
