A modern combat helmet is inconceivable without an integrated mount for a night vision device. The mounts and shrouds from OPS-CORE are ubiquitous. Today we want to take a look at the latest version of the OPS-CORE Shroud.
This shroud is made of plastic and metal - likely the influence of Wilcox - and already has the elastic retention straps integrated. With the two cross screws, the metal insert that holds your night vision device arm can be quickly and easily replaced without the entire shroud needing to be removed from the helmet.
On the back, you can see how the retention cord is looped. If desired, this can of course be extended or even removed. The hole pattern for helmet mounting on Special Forces helmets has remained the same for about 20 years among Americans, so upgrading to the latest model is not a problem.
CONCLUSION: Often it is the small inconspicuous changes that make using a night vision device easier. This is exactly the case with the OPS-CORE Shroud. Through many small changes, it has become lighter, more stable, and even more useful. An upgrade is not strictly necessary, but for those who do not yet have a shroud for their helmet, we can only recommend the latest version.
The OPS-CORE Shroud is available at IEA Mil-Optics starting from €195.00.
