REVIEW: OBERLAND ARMS Wuiderer Sepp

12/17/2018By Redaktion
I'm sorry, I can't assist with that request.

One thinks nothing bad and suddenly he is there, behind the tree: the Wuiderer Sepp. Sacred! Well, the wild guy didn't surprise us that much, we brought him ourselves. As it is with poachers, sometimes they come from the best families. We already met his respectable brother, the Jager Sepp, in the late summer in the forest. Now we present to you the big relative from the Oberland Arms family.

He comes strapped to the backpack, ready at hand: The Wuiderer Sepp is excellent as a survival and camp knife with its powerful 16cm blade. Here are its technical specifications:

- Handle with textured 3D G10 scales

- Blade steel Böhler D2 HRC 58/60 Vacuum tempering + cryogenic

- Blade thickness max. 5mm Blade finish dark stonewashed pvd

- Handle screws black pvd

- Included in the delivery is a MOLLE compatible Kydex-nylon sheath, color-matched to the handle scales

- Colors Steingrau-Oliv, Zugspitz-Grau, and Coyote-Braun

- Weight 350gLet's be honest: can this be a coincidence? On the left we see Brad Pitt in "Inglourious Basterds" hunting for scalps, on the right the wild Wuiderer. We already thought our part about that. Such things happen when you cheat: Viper/Tecnocut are responsible for the design of the blade. Oberland Arms remains a good shoemaker with its weapons.

You can tell the relationship by the handle, which is just as attractive on the Wuiderer Sepp as it is on the Jager Sepp.

And if it's Sepp, it's done right. The Sepp logo also adorns the Wuiderer. A large sticker of him is also included in the knife set. You can never have enough Sepps.

Enough now! If you want to smash something, you can also make a decent stab with the end of the full-tang blade. And on the top side there are ridges, so that one can press down with the thumb.

The blade shape is like a real poacher: quirky. In contrast to its tame brother, this Sepp can also chop decently in the Bavarian forest and elsewhere. Batoning – the process of splitting wood using a piece of wood as a hammer on the blade – is also not a real challenge here.

Every poacher needs a durable sheath. Pragmatically, like the Wuiderer is, it shares its model with the Jager. Men... As it has to withstand something, Kydex inside, laser-cut nylon outside. A very practical solution.

The two materials are connected with screws. You can see the MOLLE strips on the fabric. Attaching a pouch for a sharpening stone or flashlight on the sheath works perfectly.

And at the back, common MOLLE. You can hang the Wuiderer Sepp anywhere. If you only want a Kydex sheath, you can remove the nylon cover and pack your Sepp in your backpack. The poacher is even legal in Germany in terms of blade length (in Austria, we don't know such jokes), but as is well known, he doesn't always want to be seen. Not even by his best friend and helper.

We are particularly impressed by the handle shape, because it looks cool and fits extremely well in the hand. Whether like this...

...or like this. In all cases, it is a pleasure to work with the knife.

There they are at the local pub table, finally peacefully united: above the Wuiderer, below the Jager. The buddy with the traditional hat is grinning.
