REVIEW: NORLITE USK-G - Glock conversion kit

09/18/2023By SPARTANAT crew

Those who follow the new releases at the annual IWA Outdoor Classics will be familiar with the German company NORLITE and its USK-G. We have also presented the USK-G on our website several times since 2019, and the concept has always interested us.

This year, we have decided to present the "Carbine Conversion Kit - Glock" (USK-G) in detail and will test it extensively. We will then present the results in a multi-part article. For this purpose, MAJOR FINDING has provided us with an individually assembled USK-G, and they will contribute the texts and images for the article.

What is the USK-G?

The Carbine Conversion Kit for Glock, or USK-G, is a completely independent conversion system for Glock pistols that turns them into full-fledged carbines in the 9x19mm pistol caliber.

In contrast to the widely known and popular plastic stock conversions, such as the Roni by CAA, which clamp the entire pistol, the USK-G is almost like a standalone weapon. It is completed simply by a fully equipped Glock frame with trigger and a small additional steel loader ramp.

The monolithic conversion system is entirely milled from aluminum and has its own fixed barrel and closure. The unlocked inertial closure slides on two internally positioned steel rods and is functionally similar to the Glock closure. On the one hand, this allows you to use all Glock magazines in 9mm caliber, and on the other hand, it is registered on your WBK as just a conversion kit for your Glock pistol, legally maintaining all the conditions applicable to the pistol. You can use suitable magazines with a capacity of up to 20 rounds without changing the weapon's category.

Individual Configuration

Using the online configurator on the NORLITE website, you can customize your desired system and choose from three different barrel lengths.

We opted for the middle Compact variant, which comes as a conversion kit for a Glock 19 Gen 4.

The barrel is made of stainless steel, 254mm long, and has a standard rifling profile. The muzzle has a 15x1 thread, at the end of which is a muzzle brake from NORLITE. This works perfectly with the optional front housing cover with an integrated locking bolt. This allows the muzzle brake to be easily and toollessly screwed off and replaced with a compensator or suppressor if needed. The stock is a Mil-Spec buffer tube with a Magpul CTR buttstock.

In the configurator, users will find a wide selection of optional accessories such as buttstocks, Picatinny rail segments and covers, foregrips or hand stops, and much more...

Once you have configured your desired setup, just take a screenshot and send it to your trusted gun dealer. The price for the individual parts, as well as the total sum, will be displayed continuously, changing only through any dealer fees that may apply.

Scope of Delivery

Once the piece is ready, the shipping is very quick, and our sample made it to Austria within four days.

However, the postman sent it back to Germany on the same day because he couldn't find the address of the gun dealer. A week later, the package had arrived at its correct destination, and the paperwork was completed.

The conversion system was neatly wrapped in foam film and attached to a stylish bag with Velcro straps on the internal MOLLE loops. The additional accessories ordered, the loader ramp required for functioning, and the plastic buffer piece for the frame were in a smaller box - in the same delivery.

First Impression

As mentioned at the beginning, the NORLITE USK-G is almost a full-fledged weapon on its own, only complemented by a Glock grip frame. You can see and feel that immediately when you hold the conversion kit in your hands. Very solid and robust construction in combination with state-of-the-art CNC manufacturing. Here you get exactly the kind of German craftsmanship you would expect. NORLITE delivers with the USK-G a weapon system that seems to be built to last for eternity – at least, that was our first impression.

Naturally, we mounted a red dot sight on it right away and zeroed it shortly thereafter. But the very first shot groups and more information will be provided in the follow-up article.
