REVIEW: NEXTOOL®Flagship Pro Multitool in Black

“Dad will fix it, Dad will do it right,” sang Peter Alexander once and had a hit in the German single charts in 1981. Yes, and fortunately Dad always has his NEXTORCH toolbox with him and can fix it. NEXTORCH has launched the NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO, a multifunctional tool with 16 different tools.

The 245 gram NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO is made from a martensitic stainless 3Cr13 steel from China, also known as 30Cr13. This steel is a perfect tool steel in its price segment. It has good hardness and thus good cutting ability, high wear and corrosion resistance. 3Cr13 is also extremely easy to sharpen and also very affordable.

The NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO has a compact size when closed of 110 mm x 40 mm x 21.5 mm. Included in delivery is also a Cordura bag, user manual, and replacement blades for the pliers.

The NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO has a total of 16 different tools.

The pliers of the NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO are made of the aforementioned 3Cr13 steel and have five functions to meet various daily requirements. Needle-nose pliers, normal pliers, wire cutter, hard wire cutter, and thick wire cutter.

The pliers grip very well and thanks to the steel properties, no material rubs off during work.

On the back of the scissors handle, there is a ruler in centimeters and inches, which is also easy to read on the dark version of the NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO.

Like most multitools, the NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO also has scissors. It is a scissors with a spring mechanism made of 420J2 stainless steel. The scissors sits very well in the hand over the handles and you can really work well with it.

The scissors of the NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO is often used due to its excellent cutting properties and the 30mm long blades. Various materials such as leather, tension straps, ropes, denim fabric, ripstop fabric, seat belts, and plastic handcuffs could not satisfy its appetite.

The 70mm long saw of the NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO is not only suitable for sawing off the famous branch someone is sitting on, it is also suitable for more, it is nicely sharp and bites very well into the wood. The double-sided cross sawtooth provides double cutting force and the saw blade is securely locked in the locked state thanks to the liner lock mechanism during work.

The 77mm blade can be opened with one hand via a thumb hole. It is made of 50Cr15Mov steel, which is mainly used in knives of Asian manufacture and has a hardness between 55 and 56 HRC. Due to this low hardness, the blade is very easy to sharpen.

The liner lock is a locking mechanism on the knife of the NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO. When the blade is fully open, a spring attached to the handle and firmly connected to the knife locks into place.

Due to this feature, it is considered a one-handed knife. According to the current weapons law of the Federal Republic of Germany, knives with a one-hand locking blade have not been allowed to be carried since 2008. However, carrying a one-handed knife is allowed if there is a legitimate interest.

Another highlight of NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO is a nano-ceramic bead as a glass breaker. So far, we have never had to use this tool as a glass breaker and therefore cannot make a statement about its effectiveness. The idea was and is to be able to use the NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO as a multitool and as a rescue tool with a seatbelt cutter and glass breaker.

CONCLUSION: The NEXTOOL® FLAGSHIP PRO is a powerful tool for daily repairs. Multitools are classics among EDC items, very popular and in constant use. Our model has been through a lot. It has served as a tool during many moves, mounted shelves and cabinets, opened feed bags and packages, cut ropes, prepared food, opened bottles, repaired bicycles, fixed screws, etc.
