REVIEW: London Bridge Trading LBT-6094-RS Releasable Sentinel

08/27/2014By Redaktion

Army strong! And because that's the case, decent things come on the plate carrier. Plates inside, magazines, pockets, tools, hydration pack outside. Let's be honest, this can be pretty heavy. Especially when you fall in water or are injured, it can be very ultimately (life) threatening. There are release systems for that. The Releasable Sentinel from London Bridge Trading is a classic LBT-6094, also known by the abbreviation RS, and quickly drops off when pulled. It is available at G-Gear. We at SPARTANAT have taken a look at it.

LBT-6094RS_2nBut first the mandatory program, which we will reduce a bit, because we have already presented the 6094 many times and this 6094 is a 6094. So front and back plate pockets and MOLLE on top, so you can attach magazine pouches (6 magazines) or insert a kangaroo pouch to carry three magazines. Above is a small map pocket and on the top inside (different from other 6094 models) there is also a compartment that takes up about the upper fifth of the carrier. At the back is a handle and you can see a flap, which is not present in the regular 6094. The release system is hidden behind it.

LBT-6094RS_3The other end is hidden under the shoulder padding (left) and is a strap that is velcroed there. The front D-ring is used for release by pulling. Here we have opened the flap on the backside (right): you can see the ends of the cummerbund, through which the cable is routed to secure and release the cummerbund.

LBT-6094RS_4The cummerbund has the same features as the normal 6094: you can stash and secure a radio (straps at the top center) and you can see the velcro with which the cummerbund is fastened to the front of the carrier. The side armor belongs in the cummerbund. Unlike the regular 6094, here you can see two elastic bands that run across the inside of the cummerbund. When wearing it, they serve no purpose, as the band is tightened when the plate carrier is closed. However, they help ensure that the cummerbund remains compact and does not flutter too much during release.

LBT-6094RS_5nAnd off you go! Hook in, release from the velcro, tighten it up and already ...

LBT-6094RS_6... the plate carrier releases. The rigid armor becomes a cohesive system of individual components.

LBT-6094RS_7And here it lies on the ground (right). You can see how the cummerbund has rolled up. The release system can be mounted on the right shoulder and the left shoulder. The inside (left) looks a bit different: the Releaseable Sentinel is made of 400D Packcloth here, which, as LBT says, is more robust than mesh and ultimately cooler. They use it more often in their newer carrier series. The 6094-RS is made of 500D Cordura on the outside. If the size is correct, it can accommodate not only American plates, but also SK4 protective plates in combination with SK1 soft ballistic, which can be obtained at BEST PROTECTION. Ideal for training are the dummy training plates from Team Wendy (HERE in the review).

CONCLUSION: Plate carriers with the LBT number 6094 are now a dime a dozen. It is all the more surprising that the Releaseable Sentinel is significantly different. Not only because of its release system, but above all because it is better made in terms of quality. The shoulder area, lining, and cummerbund are of higher quality. Overall, one gets the positive impression as if one has the little brother of the CIRAS Maritime (also droppable, but by Eagle Industries) in hand, lighter, better and more practical. The luxury LBT-6094, so to speak.

The London Bridge Trading LBT-6094-RS Releasable Sentinel is available at G-Gear for 590 euros.
