"And to my left: Moss on concrete," says the well-armored botanist in the picture. There are many good reasons to work in the dangerous forest professionally. SAPIs ensure that nothing happens to the wearer when they get hit in the chest. The plates are held in place by the appropriate plate carrier from Lindnerhof Taktik, here the HL with quick release system. We have tested this plate carrier for you outside of botany and will share our impressions with you today:
Here lies the plate carrier HL in Coyote Brown on the ground. The name says it all: "HL" stands for hybrid laminate, of which Lindnerhof Taktik has had its own since 2015. This hybrid laminate, made in Germany and also compliant with the TL regulations of the Bundeswehr, is the base material for equipment that is lighter in weight. The advantage of the material: the loops are cut directly into the hybrid laminate with laser, which we like. No extra sewn-on MOLLE loops necessary, yet full MOLLE compatibility. A very slim design with high functionality.
Sometimes you have to almost fear that the troop is getting soft. The plate carrier not only holds the armor in the two plate pockets, it can also be made comfortable according to the circumstances. On the back of the plate pockets you will find two Velcro strips where you can attach the padding. It fits softer on the body than just plates, while at the same time it increases ventilation relatively. Relatively, because the wearer will sweat anyway when moving with plate carrier and full gear.
For those who look closely at the front, they will notice a noticeable overhang around the plate compartment. This is a separate extra compartment for soft ballistic protection. The Multicam you see here is actually the new combat suit of the Austrian Jagdkommando from Claw Gear – more on that from us on SPARTANAT soon.
The soft ballistic protection compartment opened. Velcro keeps it securely closed. Dump pouches or additional horizontal magazine pockets can also be attached at this point. But be careful, the loop side of the hook and loop fastener faces the body here, contrary to most other plate carriers on the market. It has its own quirks ...
Here is a look into the plate compartment. In ours, there is a size M plate from Andres Industries. The carrier is designed for L plates, but the smaller ones fit well in it too. One size fits all. Also nice to see is the smooth back of the hybrid laminate from Lindnerhof.
Velcro on the chest should never be missing, so it is not missing here either. The poison green shines through from the plate, as the laser-cut laminate was not backed with nylon to save weight. Also impossible to overlook is the small hook buckle on the shoulder straps, but more on that later.
Lindnerhof likes it airy: a skeletonized cummerbund keeps everything together. It and the large hook buckles. On the back plate you see a ranger green dump pouch attached with hook and loop. At the same time, there is also enough space on the sides for additional pockets, if needed. A man can never have enough pockets ...
The back view. Very similar to the front, but the devil is in the details as always.
Such as the laterally attached rescue handles. To ensure they do not protrude and the wearer does not get tangled up with them, they are secured with hook and loop fastener. The solution is exciting because it is designed for rescuers to grab on the right and left in an emergency and pull the person into cover.
In the lower half of the back panel, you will find a full flap. Underneath is the elastic cord to adjust the cummerbund individually. All very well thought out and above all easy to use.
