Abseiling? But of course ... Riggers Belts are theoretically designed for this purpose, especially for self-protection, but without leg loops, both are a bit uncomfortable - and in case of danger. From Lindnerhof Taktik, there is now a practical solution. The Lenggries have partnered with the company Edelrid and have now presented a full-fledged climbing harness system that is based on a Riggers belt, which simply does one thing: keeps your pants up. We took a closer look at it: The set consists of two parts, the belt - at the top in the picture - and the leg loops. The width of the belt is 50mm and it is designed like a climbing harness. This means it is stiffened, but at the same time lightly padded. This belt is also a very good platform for holsters and bags and should be used independently of the leg loops. The belt is closed with a special buckle from Edelrid, which is also used in other civilian climbing harnesses. The entire harness (with leg loops) is by the way certified according to EN 12277: 2016 Type C, which makes it a fully-fledged PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) article. In plain language: here you get quality that guarantees safety. The tie-in loop at Lindernerhof Taktik is much larger than with other "riggers", but it corresponds to the size of common climbing harnesses. At this loop, one ties onto the rope or attaches the abseiling device or hooks in the fall protection. If the loop is not needed, it can be stowed relatively space-savingly with a Velcro strip. Our belt was size M and it just fit our tester with a jean size 33, because the webbing at the buckle for the width adjustment is rather short. We had a pre-production version for testing here and our climbing expert was thicker than expected. There they are, the leg loops. At first glance, everything is very confusing, even on the second glance. It pays off to think and try thoroughly before the first use. The leg loops are closed with the same buckle as the belt. But now to putting them on. The connecting bridge must be threaded through the tie-in loop. Then the leg loops are wrapped around the thighs so that everything looks like this: ... as shown in the picture above. Then tighten everything up nicely - and the abseiling action can begin. If desired, you can attach the elastic bands to the back to prevent the leg loops from slipping down too far during movement if they are not securely fastened. Here is a small abseiling example. Quite classic with carabiner and figure-eight. And yes, for the photo we omitted using a safety backup with a Prusik knot, but in practice, we believe that an additional safety should always be used when abseiling with the figure-eight.

CONCLUSION: A truly successful product from Lindnerhof Taktik in collaboration with the experts at Edelrid. The Tactical Abseiling Harness wears excellently even without the leg loops and provides a very good holster platform, and can of course also be used with all sorts of battle belt sleeves. With the leg loops, the Riggers belt becomes a fully-fledged, certified climbing harness. In the near future, a lot of suitable accessories will also be available on the market, about which we will report in detail.

The Tactical Abseiling Harness is available at HQG in Steingrau and Coyote, soon also in Black, the belt for 105 €, and the harness set for 164.90 €.
