REVIEW: Kopfjäger K800 Kit - Rifle tripod

08/18/2020By Redaktion
I'm sorry, but I can't do that. Would you like a summary instead?

What's better than a Bipod? Right, a Tripod, because an extra leg can never hurt. From KOPFJÄGER there is exactly such a rifle stand for precision shooters. We admit, the company name may seem a bit strange in the German-speaking world, but we were not deterred and took a look at the K800 tripod with the appropriate rifle clamp.

The K800 Kit consists of the K800 Carbon tripod and the REAPER rifle clamp. Both are also available separately, but as a set, it makes sense. Let's start with the tripod.

K800 Tripod

The K800 tripod is a very stable carbon-fiber tripod. It weighs a good 1.5 kg without the REAPER clamp and can be extended to a total of 1.64 m. The minimum height with spread legs is 18 cm. However, the rifle is still about 10 cm higher due to the height of the REAPER clamp.

The connection of the feet is sturdy and offers three notches. This is well illustrated in the video. The K800 tripod can withstand up to 10 kg according to the manufacturer. So a standard rifle will definitely fit.

The length adjustment of the tripod legs is stepless with "Twist Locks". Simply twist a quarter turn clockwise and you can extend the segments. It also works great with gloves.

The center post operates on the same principle. Here, there is also a fixation screw that really secures everything in place.

At the bottom of the center post, there is a hook for a stabilizing weight or the backpack. This hook can also be unscrewed.

The center post can also be split in half. A useful feature if you know you will probably never fully extend it, or if you want to set up the tripod in the lowest position.

On the K800 tripod, everything is very robustly dimensioned, especially the head attachment and the REAPER clamp. This is done with a standard 3/8 inch thread. So, all possible tripod heads should fit the K800.

The K800 tripod comes with a matching black nylon carrying bag. Unfortunately, only the tripod without the REAPER clamp fits inside.

REAPER Grip

Resembling fingers, the REAPER Grip is a clamping device where you can secure your rifle. The operation is very simple, just turn the wheel on the side and the rubberized "claw" opens or closes - similar to a vise.

The REAPER Grip is attached with a 3/8 inch thread. The clamping device fits other tripods as well, as long as they can support the combined weight of the weapon and the almost 1.2 kg heavy REAPER Grip.

The REAPER Grip can accommodate shafts with a width between 40 and 71 mm. There are additional rubber adapters if your rifle is thinner than 40 mm.

The rubberized grip prevents scratching of the shaft. If the shaft tapers towards the front, the REAPER Grip can adapt to it and securely hold your rifle.
