REVIEW: ICEPLATE® Curve by QORE Performance

“Hydrate or die” an old and wise saying from CamelBak®. Since then, hydration bladders from different manufacturers have been on the rise. They have now become an integral part of sports, leisure, or in the executive and military fields. The advantages were clear from the beginning. Hands-free hydration for every outdoor adventure. QORE Performance went a step further. They developed the ICEPLATE®Curve, a powerful hydration, cooling, and heating container. SPARTANAT took a big gulp.

The ICEPLATE® Curve is a medium-sized 1.5-liter ESAPI-shaped water reservoir. Made of BPA-free, FDA-approved, dishwasher-safe HDPE (high-density polyethylene), designed to withstand the toughest conditions. A burst water bladder in the field can be a complete disaster. Dimensions: 24.13 x 31.75 x 2.54 cm. Weight: approximately 350 grams.

The canister comes with an 86 cm long premium drinking tube from SOURCE with high-flow bite valve. This allows for optimal water flow and easy access to drinking water.

Also included is a freezing cap for ICEPLATE® Curve. The plate is filled with drinking water and then placed in a freezer to freeze. According to the manufacturer, the cooling duration lasts two to four hours. The results vary based on external influences such as sunlight, ambient temperature, external heat sources (e.g. engines), relative humidity, user size/body type, metabolic capacity, workload. In cold months, the ICEPLATE® Curve can be filled with warm or hot water. This is then used to warm the body instead of cooling it down.

The ICEPLATE® Curve has the curved shape of an ESAPI plate, making it easier to carry on the back.

The shape of the canister fits perfectly on most plate carriers.

A single recessed opening at the lowest point of the bottle allows for complete emptying and easy filling each time. With the proprietary TotalDrain Technology, finally all the water that is carried can be drank, so no weight is lost.

The Q-Hex sound wall system: With the recess in the middle, the structure of ICEPLATE® Curve is retained during the freezing process. The flat geometry prevents the water from gurgling.

The one-way valve lets air into ICEPLATE® Curve. Therefore, it increases the flow rate by more than 100% for an effortless drinking experience.

The ICECAP QD water bottle adapter allows storage of ICEPLATE® Curve with or without a hose for maximum storage efficiency. The universal Quick Disconnect interface seamlessly integrates into most military and civilian drinking hoses (Source, Camelbak). The canister can thus go from the freezer, refrigerator, etc. to the point of use in seconds.

The adapter fits on standard threaded water bottles. Ideal for a quick energy boost on the go.

The ICEPLATE® Curve can be filled directly through the water tap into the hose with a Source UTA (Universal Tube Adapter, not included).

Through the adapter, ICEPLATE® Curve can be filled at any water tap with the Source UTA. In this way, the canister does not have to be taken out of the backpack.

The permanent fill line is molded into ICEPLATE® Curve and allows room for the water to expand during freezing.

The slots at the top and on the side of the canister are for attachment options in various backpacks.

The ICEPLATE® Curve can be conveniently integrated into the Assault Pack 12 by TASMANIEN TIGER thanks to its size corresponding to an ESAPI plate.

The canister fits into most daypacks or backpacks equipped with compartments for hydration bladders.

The ICEPLATE® Curve can be attached in multiple ways to different backpacks.

QORE PERFORMANCE offers an ICEPLATE® MOLLE Hülle to carry the canister on MOLLE/PALS equipped plate carriers or backpacks.

Simply insert the ICEPLATE® Curve into the cover. Works on the principle of most plate carriers.

Attach it to a plate carrier like the LT042/2 from LINDNERHOF TAKTIK and you are ready to quench your thirst.

CONCLUSION: The water canister ICEPLATE® Curve from QORE PERFORMANCE is a fine and well-thought-out product. The advantages are clear. Dishwasher safe and easy to clean, easy to fill, fits into most backpacks and plate carriers, is quiet, robust and stable, can carry cool water. Even when the ICEPLATE® Curve is filled, it does not provide ballistic protection!!!
