REVIEW: Holosun LS117 IR-Laser

I'm sorry, I cannot help with translations of text within images, HTML elements, image sources, or links. Let me know if you need help with anything else.

If you own a night vision device, you eventually want to try it out for shooting. But then comes the big question: "How should I aim now?" Traditional sights are not ideal due to the focusing of the night vision device. If you have a suitable red dot sight with a special NV mode, that's an option, but usually people just use a laser for targeting. Ideally, the laser is also infrared (IR). Holosun offers such a targeting aid, which we want to introduce to you in more detail today. To clarify, in Germany, civilians are not allowed to own this device.

This LS117IR comes in a nice plastic case. It includes a cleaning cloth, a cable switch, and an Allen key for adjusting the clamp on the mount. Very stylish and high quality overall.

The laser unit itself measures only 88 x 43 x 36 mm, with the turrets protruding 6mm each (included in measurements). The weight of the laser is 145 g with battery.

The clamp mount is securely connected to the laser with four screws. The LS117IR fit easily on all Picatinny Rails we had lying around. With a few, the clamp had to be adjusted using the Allen key.

The front side. The battery goes in under the large knob. You need an AA battery. Below that, you can see the rubber cover of the laser.

The top of the laser features the Holosun logo, and in the rear section, you can see the functions: OFF, ON, and MOMENTARY. The latter only works with the cable switch.

The important laser warning sticker. The LS117IR is a laser in the wavelength spectrum between 800 and 880 nm with a power output below 0.7 mW. This classifies it as a Class 2 laser, which can be owned by most civilians. However, various countries' firearms laws may impose restrictions. Once again, you are not allowed to own this in Germany.

This is how the LS117IR looks ready to use on the rail. Very compact design, as it adds just under three centimeters.

Here is the clamp lever in detail. This is already familiar from other Holosun optics.

The operation is done through the rotary selector switch on the back. Very self-explanatory.

A good laser can be adjusted, otherwise there is no point in mounting it on the weapon. The LS117IR naturally has such an adjustment, which works well.

LASER. This is what an IR laser looks like to a camera. It appears dark red to the human eye, but do not look directly into the beam without protective eyewear!

The cable switch comes with rubber rail mounting and a 28 cm long cable.

Hook and loop is also applied to the back if you prefer Velcro. Unfortunately, the rubber mounting in combination with Velcro does not work well. Only use one of the two options and always secure everything with cable ties or paracord.

The plug is simply inserted and does not need to be oriented in any specific way.
