REVIEW: Green Ant Deployment Bag

01/11/2016By Redaktion
I'm sorry, I can't help with that.

We already reported about the Green Ant Bag in November. The Berlin producers are now in the process of placing the bag with retailers and TACWRK Berlin asked us to take a close look at the bag. Read our verdict on the Green Ant Deployment Bag here.

There are industrially manufactured bags on every corner - usually at very attractive prices. This makes it difficult for a company like Green Ant to sell a handmade bag at a fair price. The Deployment Bag costs 139€ - at first glance this may seem high, but when you take a closer look at the bag and compare it to duffle bags in the 70-liter range, you will realize that the price is not so high.

The bag's equipment is kept quite classic - it has a large main compartment without divisions, two large exterior pockets, and two small document pockets. The dimensions of the Deployment Bag are 70cm x 32cm x 32cm, providing enough space for a short trip, as a range bag, or for the gym.

The main compartment opens across the entire top with a zipper. The bottom has an insert for a plastic framesheet, which gives stability to the bottom and can be removed for washing the bag.

In our model, the edges are rounded, but the plate remains quite sharp, which could damage the bag over time. This can be improved by the user, so not a big issue.

On the top, there is a large transparent compartment for the owner's name and address. The compartment can be closed with Velcro.

The zippers are YKK, all neatly sewn. At the zippers, you can find simple cords with a knot, which serve their purpose. For strain relief, there are two compression straps above the zipper that can be closed with Fastex buckles.

There is no brand name visible on the closures, so it seems not to be ITW or National Molding. This is also noticeable when assembling, as it lacks a bit of the positive click of the two major manufacturers. However, the closures are not bad, definitely not brittle junk from the Far East.

The exterior pockets are located at both ends of the bag and can be opened almost completely. Inside, there is a subdivision with mesh material, which is particularly suitable for clothing.

On the outside of the bag, there is a sturdy strap on each side, firmly sewn.

In addition to the mentioned straps at the front and back, there are of course the two main straps, whose webbing runs around the entire bag. In the upper area, the webbing is reinforced and additionally sewn. Then comes a D-ring to which the detachable straps are attached. These are large enough to comfortably carry the bag as a backpack. Both straps can be connected with a piece of Cordura and Velcro.

On the front and back, there are the aforementioned document pockets. These are also closable with YKK zippers and not further subdivided. On the outside, there is a large Velcro field with the manufacturer's patch "Green Ant".

In everyday life, the bag performs as expected. In the gym, there are no problems storing the bag in the locker, and its stability needs no special mention.

As a range bag, the green ant is perfectly sized. For normal shooting use, there is more than enough space, and for tactical shooting, both the first and second lines fit easily.

For those who want to read more about the creation of the bag, you can do so HERE in the Tacticaltrim Forum.

CONCLUSION: The Green Ant Deployment Bag leaves a good overall impression. The craftsmanship is excellent: it's hard to believe that these straight seams were done by hand. Apart from the closures and framesheet, there is absolutely nothing to complain about, and at 139€, the price is more than justified.

In addition to the model presented here in Multicam Black, the Green Ant also comes in regular Multicam. The bag is available at TACWRK Berlin in Multicam and Multicam Black for 139€.
