REVIEW: FROG.PRO Chiron Mini-IFAK

SPARTANAT introduced you to the release of a mini-IFAK from the Italian company FROG.PRO last year HERE. Now we have the opportunity to take a closer look at this product. We present Chiron to you in detail.

True to their motto "We design it. We sew it. You wear it," FROG.PRO has released a compact and lightweight bag for a personal first aid kit, the CHIRON MINI IFAK. The new model features a two-part design, consisting of a sorting insert with two removable organizer panels and an elastic platform bag.

The CHIRON MINI IFAK comes with a medical cross insert made of black plastic, four ITW Nexus® GTSP Cordloc, two meters of 1/8″ Shock Cord, a Multipurpose Organizer Chiron horizontally, and a Multipurpose Organizer Chiron vertically. The kit weighs only 220 grams and has the following dimensions: 160 x 125 x 40 mm.

The removable insert of the CHIRON MINI IFAK is made entirely of LAHYCO. With the ITW Nexus® D-Ring, the insert can be removed from the holder.

The laser-cut medical marking allows the user to choose the color based on the circumstances and switch from Hi-Vis to IR or reflective during use. Blood group patches, Medic Patches, or other useful Patches can be attached to the front Velcro® area.

The platform bag of the CHIRON MINI IFAK is made of an elastic band according to MIL-W-5664 and ensures a secure fit of the removable insert, as well as the compression of the contents. The Velcro® hook-and-loop area for securing the insert is clearly visible.

The back of the platform bag of the CHIRON MINI IFAK is made of thick plastic technopolymer. Inside the kit, there are two Velcro® hook-and-loop areas to securely hold the removable insert with its contents.

On the back of the elastic platform bag of the CHIRON MINI IFAK, there are four laser-cut MOLLE backers for attachment to PALS/MOLLE webbing of belts and plate carriers.

The use of the CHIRON MINI IFAK features a strong trapezoidal Velcro® hook and loop surface, which is then "velcroed" onto the platform bag with the corresponding counterpart and holds securely. The ITW Nexus® D-Ring must be pulled with a strong force to remove the insert.

The CHIRON MINI IFAK is equipped with horizontal and vertical multi-purpose organizers, the Multi Purpose Organizer Chiron. These are modular panels made of Technopolymer, designed to perfectly organize equipment.

With the four ITW Nexus® GTSP Cordloc, two meters of 1/8" Shock Cord, the Multi Purpose Organizer Chiron can be individually stocked and then attached to the designated Velcro® Ultra Mate areas on the back of the CHIRON MINI IFAK insert.

Even the middle divider of the CHIRON MINI IFAK insert can be useful. This makes the IFAK more compact in size.

Then the CHIRON MINI IFAK insert is folded like a sandwich and placed into the platform bag.

Once closed and ready for the next mission, the compact CHIRON MINI IFAK is secure. Because FROG.PRO wanted to keep the CHIRON MINI IFAK as small as possible and most users carry the tourniquet on their belt in front, it does not have a specific system for holding the tourniquet.

There is an option to expand the CHIRON MINI IFAK with the Velcro Elastic CAT Tourniquet Holder from FROG.PRO. There are Velcro® hook and loop areas on the front and back.

The Velcro Elastic CAT Tourniquet Holder is inserted and attached between the use and the Multi Purpose Organizer Chiron via its Velcro® hook-and-loop surface.

The CHIRON MINI IFAK closed with the extended Velcro Elastic CAT Tourniquet Holder.

The ITW Nexus® D-Ring is grabbed, a pull, and the use from the CHIRON MINI IFAK can be completely, easily, and quickly extracted.

CONCLUSION: The Italian manufacturer of military tactical equipment under the brand FROG.PRO has positively expanded its range with a new compact personal first aid kit called CHIRON MINI IFAK. Among the advantages of the new bag, which can accommodate the entire standard set of IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) components, is that the manufacturer focused on relatively low weight, a compact and flat design, and that the IFAK is excellent for placement on modern carrying systems. The CHIRON MINI IFAK can be completely removed from the platform bag with minimal effort, whether with a strong or weak hand.
