REVIEW: First Spear Tactical Handwarmer

02/06/2016By Redaktion

Two years ago we introduced you to the Ferro Concepts Handwarmer. Last year we showed you the Toy Soldier Handwarmer. This year we have the First Spear Tactical Handwarmer on the presentation table. Muff - derived from the Latin word "muffula" - stands for fur glove. Why all the fuss about these things? Gloves are much more practical... right?

In principle, yes. But then why are handwarmers so popular with special forces? Quite simple. Ever tried firing a weapon with thick, warm gloves on? Exactly, that definitely doesn't work out well. The muff offers the advantage of keeping your hands warm with only thin tactical gloves and being ready to use your weapon in lightning speed.

While the two models introduced in previous years were rather plain and only had the option to be worn with a waist strap, First Spear has released the Tactical Handwarmer in a deluxe version.

At First Spear, you will find two small zippers on the back that contain the waist strap. There are also two straps that wrap around the entire handwarmer. These have various attachment options to secure the handwarmer to a chest rig or plate carrier. In addition, there is a pocket on the front for small items. Inside this pocket are two adapters that provide additional attachment points. The elastic bands inside this pocket can also be used to tighten the hand openings of the muff.

The inside of the handwarmer is lined with soft fleece, ensuring warm hands. The outer shell is made of sturdy 500d Cordura.

CONCLUSION: Tactically cool and practical, the First Spear Handwarmer is a great choice. Unlike the competing products we've seen, this one offers various attachment options. The warm fleece keeps your hands warm, and when it gets really cold, you can tighten the openings and fight off the creeping cold. A small utility pouch on the front completes the package.

The First Spear Tactical Handwarmer is available at TACWRK in Coyote Brown, Khaki, Ranger Green, and Multicam for approximately 133€.
