REVIEW: FFI Desert Night Camo Style Camo Gen4 Combat Set

A trend camouflage pattern currently is the Desert Night Camo (DNC) from the Eighties and Nineties. In this checkered camouflage, FFI now offers the Gen4 Combat Set, which uses the cut of the Crye G4 Combat Uniform.

This is the whole outfit. Looks pretty cool, right? You can find the review of the original Crye garb HERE with us. In comparison to the original, no flame-retardant fabrics were used, but rather normal, comfortable 65/35 polyester/cotton material.

The Top

The top from the back. The outfit is not entirely unfamiliar, so let's move quickly.

High collar with a wide neckline.

Upper arm pockets with a pen slot. It is located between the zipper and the Velcro panel.

The body is made of cotton and is extended inside at the upper arms.

Adjustable with Velcro.

And again the whole thing from the front.

The Pants

The pants in all their glory. By the way, the knee pads are not included in the delivery.

Below are an extra pocket for the pocketknife and a zippered pocket perfect for your phone.

The well-known thigh pockets.

Inside, there are elastic loops that perfectly hold your 0.5l water bottle.

Back pocket with zipper. One noticeable thing is the absence of stretch material throughout the pants. Nonetheless, they are very comfortable to wear and do not cut into the skin.

The knee pads fit well, but again, they lack stretch.

One downside with the knees is that the middle seam bears a lot of force. In this case, the smarter choice gives in, and in this case, it's the thread. The pants still hold together flawlessly, and the tear did not enlarge even with further use. It occurred on only one knee.

The 50 mm belt sits securely in the belt loops.

On the side under the belt, you will find the adjustable width feature. Below that, the black imitated Crye name tape is visible.

Great pants, here is the final look from the back.

If it gets too warm for you, the FFi suit can be easily combined with the DNC-Boardshort by FORWARD PATCH CONTROL.

CONCLUSION: FFI delivers a solid DNC G4 suit at a great price. Despite the lack of stretch material, the base fabric is elastic enough. DNC just looks fantastic, and if you want to dress up in the pattern, this is the perfect foundation for it. Thanks to Crye, G4 has a perfect fit.
