The Swiss company PITCHFORK SYSTEMS takes on this challenge. They design their products not only according to their visual appearance, but also according to their purpose. The FAHRIUS Heavy Fleece Jacket is the ideal choice for the autumn and spring season as a middle layer. SPARTANAT stepped out of their comfort zone and tested the jacket.

Thanks to the modern cut, the FAHRIUS fits well on the body. The fleece jacket can be worn alone or as an insulation layer under an operational jacket. Our test person is wearing size L and the jacket is designed in this size, with an ideal fit.

The FAHRIUS is a high-quality jacket, tested by the Swiss Army, particularly suitable for cold autumn weather. A heavy double fleece material is used, made of 100 percent polyester (PES). The double fleece provides optimal insulation. Total weight for size L is approximately 380 grams.

On the back of the fleece jacket, there is a fluffy and spacious hood. A kangaroo pocket is located in the lower third of the FAHRIUS. The length of the jacket falls below the hips.

The full kangaroo pocket is opened via two YKK zippers on the left and right side. The pocket is able to hold a shemagh or even a poncho.

The roomy hood is adjustable in size via shock cord and cord stopper.

There are two spacious and soft front pockets with cable routing on the front.

Inside, there is an elastic band with a D-ring to securely fasten objects.

The front pockets of the FAHRIUS have been positioned so that they remain accessible even when wearing a chest pocket or a backpack with a chest strap.

On the left sleeve end, there is a small zippered pocket. Large enough to store small items. Or an ID card that needs to be easily accessible.

A large upper arm pocket is located on both sides. A mini IFAK fits very well in it.

There is a cable outlet in the upper arm pockets. Marching without music is boring! MP3 players or mobile phones can easily be stored there.

The two Velcro areas in the typical PITCHFORK style (100 x 150 mm) on the upper arms have a vertical separation. This helps the Velcro to ergonomically wrap around the upper arm.

Adjustable cuffs with Velcro closure ensure a good fit around the sleeves.

The cuffs close securely and the plastic straps do not rub against the forearm.

The front zipper is a YKK two-way zipper and ends at the top with a chin guard. Which of course pleases the beard wearer and Yeti.

All zippers on the FAHRIUS can be easily operated with gloves through ribbed tabs with small Trident logos.

Now let's take a look at the inner values of the fleece jacket.

There is a small document pocket on the inside right.

The content is easily accessible via a zipper and has enough space for a wallet or ID card holder.

There is enough space behind the front pockets to store electronic devices, maps, scarves, or other equipment, making them also suitable as internal pockets.

The size can be adjusted using a bungee cord in the hem of the FAHRIUS. A small channel up into the jacket would be helpful so that the end does not dangle and get caught on something.

One thing that is very pleasant about the fleece jacket from PITCHFORK SYSTEMS and immediately caught our attention is the fact that the Velcro surfaces, zippers, or intricately embroidered Trident logos perfectly match the main material of the fleece jacket.
