After many years of waiting, there is finally a functional copy of the LLM01. A "must have" for all adjusters of European armed forces. Today, we want to tell you what it can do:The top image shows the control side well. The rotary switch is used to set the individual functions, and the push buttons located around the LLM01 are used to trigger them. Both the adjustment screws for the laser and the markings are clearly visible. The scratch on the side was our fault when we slipped with the screwdriver due to carelessness.
Here is the end, from which all kinds of visible and invisible electromagnetic radiation emerge. In the middle is the very bright CREE LED (as bright as all other Element lights), above it is the IR laser, which must be considered a better toy. Next to it is the IR LED for invisible illumination, more of a toy as the effective range is only about 5 meters. Outlined in blue is the visible red laser, which is very useful.
View into the battery compartment. Two CR123A batteries are required for operation, or RCR123 and 16340 shaped batteries can also be used. The mounting on rails is done using a screw clamp, which has held up well on all tested rails.
Rear view and the sticker. The connector for the cable switch is visible, which is done with an SMA connector and holds very well.
Unfortunately, we have to note that in our specimen, the CREE LED suddenly gave out, or rather its electronics did. Directly feeding 6V to the LED makes it work perfectly. According to some reports from the internet, this has also happened to other people. Whether this problem has been fixed in later series, we do not know. The lasers still work perfectly.
CONCLUSION: A long-awaited piece of technology, which is overall well made. The IR components are not really usable, but at this price, it is not surprising, as a good IR laser normally costs more than the whole combination. The failure of the CREE LED electronics is also a disadvantage.
