REVIEW: CONDOR MOPC Gen. II Plate Carrier

02/13/2023By Redaktion

Superman may be invincible, but the first responders are primarily humans. That's why there is the plate carrier for first responders. Through constant exchange of operational experiences from the executive and military sector, the US company CONDOR has further developed the MOPC plate carrier and adapted it to the needs of the users.

We took a closer look at the CONDOR MOPC Gen II and wanted to find out how it has evolved.

This is what the MOPC Gen II looks like from the front. In the front area, there is a 30 x 18 cm large velcro patch area. This allows for attaching various placards and fixing a cummerbund.

Behind the large velcro area, there is a pocket that can be used as a document or map pocket. It is also possible to attach a CONDOR M4 MAG insert (not included in the MOPC Gen II scope of delivery). This keeps the profile flat.

The map pocket is accessed from the top via a one-way zipper.

In the upper area, there are rows of MOLLE with three of them featuring velcro for attaching patches and ID markings. Fastex fasteners can be incorporated into the MOLLE loops to securely attach different placards. Two loops protrude on each side, which can be used for cables or hydration tubes.

The detachable and flat shoulder pads allow for a good weight distribution and comfortable wearing of the loaded plate carrier. Velcro loops in the shoulder area allow for routing cables or hydration tubes through them.

The cable loops can be stored under the adjustable shoulder strap when not needed.

The padding for the shoulders and the interior of the CONODR MOPC Gen II is a 3D mesh lining. This ensures good ventilation and wearing comfort.

The good profile of the plate carrier and shoulder strap allow for a good, secure stance and do not hinder the shooter.

The back profile of the carrier is kept flat so that the carrying strap is not hindered in use.

This is what the back looks like. It is easy to see that the shoulder strap is adjustable via a three-bar buckle. Four rows of MOLLE are used for attaching various pockets and equipment.

A carrying handle is a must. In the upper area, three rows of MOLLE with Velcro flaps are attached for patches and ID marking.

When the lower part on the back is unfolded, the user reaches the area where the cummerbund and side strap are attached, and can be adjusted to the wearer's size.

The MOPC Gen. II is supplied with a laterally adjustable hip belt and a cummerbund. This carrying option allows the user to access his sidearm or jacket pocket.

A ladder buckle on the hip belt allows for easy and quick adjustment of the size and wearing of the plate carrier.

The MOPC Gen. II comes with a cummerbund with three attached rows of MOLLE. Adjustable to fit sizes from 101 cm to 128 cm.

The cummerbund is fixed with Velcro on the front of the plate carrier….

….and is integrated on the back of the plate carrier under the panel.

CONDOR offers the user the option to adjust the cummerbund to their size using various loops. I have recreated this using colored paracord.

There is a video on CONDOR's website that explains the application in more detail.

This unique cummerbund has integrated soft armor pockets and can be used with side plates. The cummerbund can be opened via two webbing loops.

The VAS SIDE PLATE INSERT from CONDOR (not included in the MOPC Gen. II) can be attached to the cummerbund.

The wearer is allowed to increase their protection. The pockets can be moved in the cummerbund and are held in place thanks to the strong velcro surfaces.

Space for attaching equipment, etc. is provided by the MOLLE rows.

By means of a VAS ZIPPER STRIP from CONDOR (not included in the delivery of the MOPC Gen. II) it is possible to use the cummerbund for other purposes.

Either as a document/map pocket or for side soft ballistic protection.

Now let's move on to the inner values of the MOPC Gen. II. When unfolded, the 3D mesh lining is clearly visible.

The plate compartments are unimpressive but functional. Easy access to the ballistic plates via a pull-down closure.

Thanks to the velcroed webbing, the plates also hold up perfectly. Even training is fun because nothing slips around. Various types of protective plates fit in: SAPIs in M and L as well as Swimmercut SAPIs.

CONDOR offers optional accessories for the MOPC Gen. II plate carrier. Here in the image is the VAS RECON MAG Panel in Multicam.

The panel accommodates six M4 magazines and six pistol magazines. The male fastex buckles and strong velcro on the back allow for secure attachment to the plate carrier.

The panel also holds on the velcro of the cummerbund. Whether in the field or on the obstacle course. It holds securely, does not shift.

For those who need less in action, they can use the VAS KANGAROO MAG PANEL GEN II from CONDOR.

All magazine pockets for the pistol are adjustable via Velcro and have drainage holes.

The M4 magazines are securely held by bungee cords and can be quickly removed. The bungee cord can be adjusted accordingly. All magazine pockets have drainage holes.

For those who want to customize their front, CONDOR offers the VAS-MODULPANEL.

CONCLUSION: The Plate Carrier by CONDOR Modular Operator Plate Carrier (MOPC) Gen. II is designed as a modular platform on all sides, thus combining functionality and mobility.

Made from high-quality Velcro, Fastex buckles, straps, and Cordura, the MOPC Gen. 2 is currently a great value for money wonder among plate carriers. I was very satisfied with its solid and full processing, robustness, and functionality.

The CONDOR MOPC Gen. II is available in Black, Olive, Coyote, Navy Blue, and Multicam at all retailers carrying CONDOR. It costs from 89.95 Euro. Find CONDOR Plate Carriers and all accessories at RECON COMPANY.
