The Combat Shirt from Steinadler is manufactured by the company MMB and has been on the market for some time now. In RAL7013, it was one of the first to offer Austrian Armed Forces members a new world of equipment. It has been tested extensively enough to provide you with a review.
Since the beginning, Steinadler has had a close cooperation with the German company Michael Männelein GmbH, known to most for the product line TacGear. This line is known for producing consistently usable gear (from tarps to smocks to pants) at a fair price. Steinadler's company philosophy primarily focuses on supporting Austrian soldiers by providing them with helpful tools and gear. One of his initiatives in this direction was the matching Combat Shirt in the same color as the RAL7013 combat pants. Pioneering work as there were hardly any offers in this color at that time.
The cut, collar, Velcro areas, and upper arm pocket are designed to resemble the shape of the Austrian Armed Forces combat shirt as closely as possible. As we all know, commissioned officers tend to react allergically to missing trouser stops and organizational plan externals.
The sleeves are made of classic 50/50 PolyCotton and the torso is made of 100% Coolmax® and is therefore not fire resistant. The sleeves also have a pocket for elbow pads to make lying in wet conditions more bearable. Unfortunately, the sleeves are not as wide-cut as in the original "light combat suit jacket," which means you cannot roll up the sleeves (see comparison image below).
Yes, the sleeves are "long" in combat duty - but let's be honest, you're not constantly fighting, and any relief is welcome when it's at least thirty degrees Celsius.
CONCLUSION: A very welcome and versatile piece of equipment for the Austrian Armed Forces, which can greatly simplify summer duty due to its appearance. Those unfamiliar with the department might be better off with an alternative product or the regular TacGear version, such as the sturdy Combat Shirts from CLAW GEAR, which are also available in RAL7013.
The Combat Shirt Steinadler/Tacgear is now only available second-hand.
Tactical Modification: Slit and sew. All done yourself. And now the Combat Shirt can roll up its sleeves as well.
