REVIEW: Clawgear Aviceda Mk.II Fleece Jacket

Light fleece jackets can be worn as an intermediate layer or independently. This makes them a constant companion throughout the year. Clawgear now offers the Aviceda Mk.II and we have taken a detailed look at it.

The Aviceda comes in two variants, with and without a hood. Since we wanted to use the jacket primarily as an intermediate layer, we opted for the hoodless version. In the revised MK.II version, all stretch material areas now match in color.

The back of the jacket is functionally unadorned. It is cut longer towards the buttocks. The entire jacket weighs just over 400 g and therefore goes unnoticed in the backpack.

On the upper arms, there is the obligatory pocket with Velcro. Here, the integrated pen slot in the Velcro area is particularly well designed.

The Aviceda Mk.II has an average-sized upper arm pocket. It can accommodate all the usual small items you carry with you.

But there is more storage space on the jacket, namely two hip pockets. These are great for keeping hands warm or for gloves and hats.

In the hip pockets of the Aviceda Mk.II, you will find the excess of the elastic band. What elastic band?

We mean the elastic drawstring at the jacket hem, which can be tightened at the bottom. This is a nice solution so that nothing annoying dangles.

Inside, there is a Napoleon pocket with a cable outlet. In the neck area of the Aviceda, there is also a small loop to securely guide cables.

The sleeve cuffs are elastic. The width was well chosen so that they do not cut in.

The fleece jacket is closed with a front YKK zipper. The small zippers on the upper arm and hip pockets are also from YKK.

A chin guard at the end of the zipper should never be missing, and it is also present on the Aviceda jacket.

The collar is about eight centimeters high and comfortably surrounds the neck. A neck scarf can also fit underneath without causing a choking sensation.

CONCLUSION: With the Aviceda Mk.II, Clawgear has introduced a solid, lightweight fleece jacket that can be used all year round. It keeps you pleasantly warm but is not suitable for strong winds. It's always in our backpack.

The Aviceda Mk.II is available directly from Clawgear for 72.90 EURO in the colors Steingrau/RAL7013, Schwarz, Coyote, and Solid Rock.
