REVIEW: Böker Plus Steel-Mariner 50 Years Combat Swimmer Company

05/24/2014By Redaktion

You don't turn 50 every day. The combat swimmer company of the German Navy was able to celebrate this birthday on April 1, 2014, and at the same time, the Special Forces Command Navy (KSM) was founded. As a gift, there was a special edition of the Böker diving knife, the Plus Steel Mariner, which commemorates the special day and the half-century of the combat swimmer company. We are pleased to introduce it to you today.

The special feature is the blade: here you can read the name of the combat swimmer company and at the same time see their logo, in the special edition with the key dates 1964-2014 (if you want to read more about the birthday, visit KAMPFSCHWIMMER.DE). The blade is classic Steel Mariner: on one side serrated for cutting tissues and ropes, on the other smooth and sharp. The material is 440C steel, titanium coated. The model is the Ti-Mariner, which is fully made of titanium and therefore non-magnetic, which is important for combat swimmers.

The handles are G10 scales, which are olive in this edition. You can attach a lanyard at the back. The serial number is engraved on the top: the Böker Plus Steel-Mariner 50 Years Combat Swimmer Company is limited to 300 pieces.

Inside the box: the knife comes with a Kydex sheath and a belt adapter, which is versatile for mounting.

This is how the box looks when closed. Perhaps having the combat swimmer crest on the outside would have been better. But you know: it's the inner values that count!

CONCLUSION: A classic diving knife in a strictly limited special edition. It is fully functional, but we will not use ours much in operations because it is an excellent collector's item. There were a total of 300 pieces available. The last few are still available at TACWRK in Berlin. Insider tip: Get it now!

You can get the Böker Plus Steel-Mariner 50 Years Combat Swimmer Company at TACWRK for 69 euros.
