REVIEW: Black Trident Thor Duty+ Holster

07/14/2021By Redaktion

The Thor Holster is the most popular OWB holster from Black Trident, but unfortunately it is "only" a Level 1 holster. This means it only has one way to secure or hold the weapon. For trips to the range, this is certainly sufficient, but for those carrying the weapon for duty, a Level 2 holster is preferred. The Thor Duty+ is exactly such a Level 2 holster, and we took a close look at it.

The Thor Duty+ in all its glory. At the top, you can see the Level 2 retention in the form of a hood. This prevents the weapon from being easily drawn.

This is what the Thor Duty+ looks like from the front. The holster is very slim overall. Because of the retention mechanism, you may need a spacer, depending on the mounting manufacturer. The black block between the holster and the G-Code mount is such a spacer.

From the factory, you can choose from various BladeTech mounts that do not require an adapter, as they are designed differently. Safariland also does not need a spacer. However, we somehow fell in love with the G-Code mounting system, which requires a spacer. You can also order the Thor Duty+ without a mount. then it comes pre-drilled with all possible hole patterns.

The operation is simple and self-explanatory. To release the retention hood, you just have to operate a lever with your thumb.

Here is the drawing process in motion. The weapon also holds without the hood; it is just an additional safety measure.

The back is like the classic Thor. You adjust the clamping of your weapon with the screws. On this topic, we wrote a small article HERE. By the way, the light is the BALDR IR from Olight. At Black Trident, you can choose from a variety of weapon lights for the Thor Duty+. If yours is not there, just ask, the guys at Black Trident can surely make you a suitable holster.

What we really like is that the holster is already designed for red dots on the pistol from the factory. If you don't have a red dot on your pistol yet but plan to upgrade in the future, you don't necessarily need a new holster. The stippling on the Glock was also done by Black Trident.

Silencer High Sights also fit easily in the Thor Duty+. There's nothing standing in the way of the Roland Special.

CONCLUSION: With the Thor Duty+, Black Trident delivers a solid Level 2 holster that is already designed for red dots and higher sights. The operation is simple, and the construction, as usual, is clean and top-notch.

You can get the Thor Duty+ Holster in all sorts of variants from Black Trident starting at 149 euros.
