Nowadays, you are often forced to go through a metal detector. Not only at the airport is checked, but also at tourist attractions or even music festivals. Belts are usually required to be removed. This is annoying, frustrating, time-consuming, and in the worst case, your pants might even slip down.
To address this issue, we got ourselves a more tactical belt, which uses a Cobra buckle made entirely of plastic. The BE-X FronTier One BDU Belt "Ultralight & Ultrarugged" in black from Begadi. The belt is truly ultralight, no comparison to the metal Cobra buckles. Additionally, the plastic version has a breaking load of 200 kilograms! Furthermore, it is stitched with belt webbing according to Milspec, which is designed for a breaking load of 3,100 kilograms. Here is the belt from the front. No logo, simple, and small tabs to open the belt. The buckle is developed and manufactured by ITW Nexus in collaboration with AustriAlpin.
The belt in a pair of TAD pants. Due to its width, the belt is more suitable for tactical pants. Civilian belt loops may be too tight.
Backside of the open buckle. On the right, you can also see the intermediate piece, which is pushed outwards with plastic springs. When threading, it is recommended to press this towards the buckle with a finger so that the belt webbing can be passed through more easily.
Since the belt is shipped in a standard length of 130 centimeters, you can simply cut off the excess belt webbing and melt it with a lighter to prevent fraying.
CONCLUSION: A lightweight, tactical belt, without any metal. Ideal for airports. Or for anyone who has to undergo metal detector checks regularly. We can't wait for more models that are a bit slimmer.
The belt is currently available in black and olive for 39.90 Euros. HERE is the link to the black version.
